I have been working at Innotec full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Innotec is a great place to work to get experience right outside of college. You will learn everything from welding and machine design all the way to product pricing and profit & loss statement. You will learn a LOT in a short amount of time.

    Cons

Innotec is not a place to have a long term career. The pay is terrible. I left Innotec and immediately made $40k more annually. Innotec's pay is heavily weighted toward "profit pie per person." i.e. the years profits get divided out between all the employees. The fewer employees, the more money you make. The problem is that there was rarely any profit left over at the end of the day. The profit was... constantly getting re-invested into new ventures. For example, the interior lighting division would be making a killing. Great! Now, let’s take all that profit money and start making car batteries. What?!?! The hours are terrible. I was working easily 70hrs a week and felt guilty for not working more. Finally, the leadership was constantly trying to re-design everything. They designed their own punch press machines. Seriously. They built their own punch presses. These things were the biggest piles of garbage on the planet, and they broke constantly. Another example would be a metal feeder (the gizmo that moves sheet metal into the press). They decided to redesign it and call it an "Inno-Feeder." These things broke constantly as well. There are companies that build feeders and make great ones. Why would you design your own?

I worked at Innotec full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

You can learn quite a bit in the internship program. Some flexibility with what time you can come in and leave.

    Cons

FT hours are a lot - minimum 50 hour weeks. Salary is below average for area and responsibility. You can end up feeling like more of a number than a person. Work life balance can be an issue with the number of hours.

    Advice to Management

Doing things the way they have always been done is not working anymore. Let some fresh minds take over in certain areas.

I worked at Innotec for more than a year

    Pros

    • Great team to work with • Several opportunities to with with bigger brand names • Got to be inventive with design solutions • Plenty design areas that ranged to retail, automotive, agriculture, commercial vehicles, recreational, power sports, marine, and home/office goods • Work through the entire design process

    Cons

    • Engineering based company • There seem to be a lot of niche groups and can be hard to socialize

    Advice to Management

Continue to develop a design division of the company. I feel that the company could really shine with a solid group of Industrial Design professionals. They could keep ideating products that could reach into even more industries!

    I worked at Innotec full-time

    Pros

Great culture of people to work with, don't know if you'll find as large of a group of genuine, good people anywhere else. No official bosses, creates intellectual freedom. (Be careful, although no official bosses there are people that you REALLY should listen to.)

    Cons

Lacks cross functional communication regarding new product launches. Salary is below average while benefits are pretty decent. Can get stuck doing lower level tasks at higher level positions.

    Advice to Management

Understanding the variation in value new employees provide and adjusting salary and benefits accordingly. Engineer salary should vary between market demand of each engineer's specialty/education type.

I have been working at Innotec full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The hours are extremely flexible. You almost never have anybody looking over your shoulder. The management genuinely cares about the people who work there. They do some real goo din the world through their stewardship programs, which employees are encouraged to get involved with.

    Cons

There is a constant, never-ending push to work more hours, to work later, to come in for weekends, etc. The methods are ALWAYS new, even if that is totally unnecessary. The company is getting much too large for the original, flat structure. The pay is sub-par. Things get way too bad before management will make a change. The politics are terrible: a few people who have been there for a long time make uninformed and... generally disagreeable decisions while blaming the lower level guys when those decisions don't work out.

    Advice to Management

Get more supply chain management. Keep higher-level people out of design reviews (Especially the founder/CEO). LISTEN to the engineers who are on the floor.

I have been working at Innotec full-time for less than a year

    Pros

It does have freedom, until it doesn’t. this means tread lightly and buddy up with the right people and you will have a job. Good to start for fresh out of collage, if you don’t have any experience with a good company but don’t stay more than a couple of years. Love the all the work but it enslaves you before you know it.

    Cons

Warning: this company loves to sue people that leave so lawyer up, infected if they ever find out who wrote this I’m sure I would get sued somehow. If you don’t share the same values that they “say they do” don’t even bother with this company, because you are not welcome if they find out. If you want a job here just say you are all about God, the 3 founders are good guys, but watch out for the snakes in the grass... there. They talk a good game but it’s a constant shell game as fare as finances and making the company look better than it is. They work you into the ground. Instead of a good raise you get ice-cream which is good unless you have bills to pay. Hi turnover, they will lie and say its because of culture but really you go because they push you out or you get out because they don’t want to work there anymore.

HR is the worst, this is why everyone leaves, well that and the lies they come up with to cover their butts.
