I worked at Intralot full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

People at the lower local levels are dedicated and hard working

    Cons

Management from the General Management level up is ridiculous. Often times it seems like the corporate people are inventing new positions to justify pay increases while the people doing the hard work on the ground are paid like peasants.
The GM at the location I worked was an over-bearing micromanager whose daily tirades would often get in the way of regular job functions. The HR department makes even the simplest of requests seem like a daunting challenge.

The technology is out dated. For a tech company they act like they are afraid of spending money and time to make theirs better. Spent several years working with servers/software/office PC's that were out of date or on the verge of breaking. The equipment that is being supported is even out dated (some were using parts that were no longer being manufactured).
There is no planning for the future and very little money spent on technology and resources that make an actual company work. There is no time or effort put into increasing the employee's knowledge about the systems and sometimes simple fixes that had to be escalated would take days or weeks to get resolved.
Just an overall terrible experience and I don't recommend working for this company unless you have no other choices. There is no room for advancement and even if you do move up you are still under appreciated, under paid and overworked. There is no positive culture and the overall feeling is that if you aren't at corporate or a GM or above you don't matter.
No work/life balance, poor hiring practices (nepotism runs rampant), and no control over their upper management's egos makes even day to day working difficult. No bonuses or cost of living adjustments and compared to the positions that are similar at other companies the pay is well below the national average.

    Advice to Management

Learn how to actually run a company and let the department managers actually manage their departments instead of getting in the way. Treat your employees better (like they actually exist and are valued), there should be more incentive to stay than a pay check, health benefits, and a terrible local job market.

I have been working at Intralot full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There is lots of downtime to do whatever you want: browse the internet, watch movies, search for other jobs. The health care/benefits are fantastic for entry and middle level employment. There is tuition re-reimbursement (many employees are college dropouts using it to finish their degree). There is plenty of room for lateral and vertical advancement being a multinational company.

    Cons

long hours in some positions. Customer oriented (and somtime customer service oriented) job ideals. sometimes irreguar work schedule. And of course you work for some for of gambling (mostly lottery) and you are wildly aware that you are praying on the poor at all times

    Advice to Management

provide better job training. have more paygrades (operator I, operator II, etc.) to promote the idea that Intralot is a career, not just a way station in life

    I worked at Intralot full-time

    Pros

Company vehicle, gas card, laptop and cell phone. 10 plus hour shifts means less work days.

    Cons

Micro management with people who look for reasons to stab you in the back. Selfish people work here. There are some really good ones here but they tend to stay away due to the bad apples. Lazy techs and backstabbing among peers. You batter be availible when you arent working or you will be terminated. bad pay rate for job type and contract. Also do not volunteer for anything because you will not be recognized for it. In fact it can go against you in the long run. Like favoritism? You'll love it here.

    Advice to Management

Do some investigations on your management. Fire those who need it. Fresh blood can only help. Those in management currently are only hanging on due to connections, not performance. Change the way you help employees. Pay what people are truly worth.

    Pros

11 paid holidays, vacation, sick days. Paid on time. Company car, gas card, all expenses on vehicle are paid through LeasePlan. Will also pay storage fees.

    Cons

The people you work with are selfish. Will expect help from you, but will not return the favor.

Some technicians try to play the "I'm not healthy enough to do that" card to get out of their own job responsibilities.

Micro-managed so much it can be off-putting. Downright spirit breaking. To the point you would almost want to declare bankruptcy and live under a bridge.

Driving is graded on a scale of 0-100. Someone from corporate enforces it yet has zero experience in the field or on these roads day in and day out.

Employees who do not carry their own weight are not punished. Work that cannot be completed will usually fall in the hands of those who can complete it, even though it is not your area.

Impossible to do jobs at times because equipment/replacement equipment is not readily available.

    Outdated laptop. Outdated OS.

    Management is all about favorites.

Everyone is punished rather than addressing the troublemakers individually.

Expected to drive 1-2 hours to clean the warehouse because people are not held responsible for their own messes.

Expected to answer phone whether you are on call or not.

Management will let 11 out of the 13 technicians take vacation all once during holidays, leaving only one or two to be on call for the entire state. Those on call are expected to make 6-8 hour round trip drives and are shown little appreciation.

If you ask management for a holiday off a year in advance even, they will still call you Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day, whether you are 2-3 hours away from your work vehicle, expecting you to drop what you are doing and make the trip back just so you can clean up the mess they made because of their own incompetency and selfishness.

Hostile work environment at times. More gossip than in a teenage girls bathroom in junior high.

    No opportunity to advance.

Depressing pay for the amount of work constantly being added.

    Advice to Management

Appreciation really goes a long way.
    Better pay, better conditions.
