I have been working at Invetech full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Since Colin White became president at Invetech there has been a cultural shift in the leadership. The San Diego office is a great place to work and the colleagues here are all high class technically and personally.

The recent growth initiative has helped the San Diego office reach the critical size to attract big exciting projects and everyone is busy and focused. If you like working for a company where there is no room for dead wood then Invetech will be a good fit for you.

The introduction of the Danaher Business System is getting serious attention and commitment from the leadership team and really has a lot to offer to anyone who believes in continuous improvement and turning problems into opportunities.

    Cons

The travel commitment can be quite high depending on your position. If you are collaborating with colleagues in Melbourne you will need to be flexible in your work hours, but the company supports this in a variety of ways.

    Advice to Management

Keep discussing the current strategic direction with colleagues at all levels to ensure alignment and transparency.

    Pros

Great coworkers, casual work environment, beer Fridays.

    Cons

No room for advancement, upper management is constantly changing, HIGH turn over

    Advice to Management

    Pull it together.

    I worked at Invetech full-time

    Pros

    Variety of projects; good technology team; USA office is a good working place;

    Cons

    Lack of corporate vision (changes every 6 month or so); leadership skills and integrity are in short supply; some of the positive Glassdoor comments are clearly published to make total rating look better (I am not aware of anyone, including management, who is positive about this place);

I have been working at Invetech full-time

    Pros

    - Possibly the most friendly and tightly knit group of people to work with.
    - Variety of projects is good, and since the team is small here you can get exposure to all of them.
    - The President is enacting a great deal of very positive change and morale has been better than ever.

    Cons

    - Speed and efficiency take a big hit due to reliance on Australian mothership.
    - Promotions are rare and raises are average to below average.
    - Management very hesitant to invest in technological infrastructure and would rather pass that on to the client on a per project basis.

    Advice to Management

    - Be more proactive on hiring talent for projects. Running a skeleton crew constantly is burning us all out and leading to looking for opportunities elsewhere.

    Pros

Really technically challenging projects with amazingly knowledgeable people to turn to for help. Main R&D site is in Australia, so opportunities for travel and transfers.

    Cons

Working with projects in countries all around the world can be on teleconferences at all times.

    Pros

    Highly educated and professional team

    Cons

Luck of leadership on all levels of company infrastructure.

    Advice to Management

We are running business with 10 years old model, which is based on questionable success stories. It is time to get humble and lower cost of doing business with us.

    Pros

At one time was fun, invigorating. Extremely talented bright people who believed in having fun at work makes you more productive.

    Cons

CEO brought company down the past few years and Danaher has finished it off. People running for the doors if not getting pushed out.

    Advice to Management

Premium prices can't be charged in an economically-challenged period like we are in now. Competitive disadvantage of being based in Australia needs to be overcome by more support of U.S. office.

    Pros

Local management has best interest for everyone however small the team is.

    Cons

There is not a core team to execute work since San Diego is a satellite office (more like a shop-front). Work is sporadic and sometimes never there. Over 50% attrition in the last year. Not a place to learn and grow.

    Advice to Management

Make commitment to make San Diego a stand alone office or close shop.

I have been working at Invetech full-time

    Pros

-One of the nicest, most relaxed places I've worked at as an engineer.
-Lots of interesting things coming through the pipeline.
-San Diego location's environment is pretty casual.

    Cons

-Perhaps too much coming through the pipeline at times, which doesn't convert to actual projects. Makes it hard to feel accomplished at times.
-Melbourne office tends to lord over the San Diego office. Things are changing, albeit slowly. We are growing to meet the San Diego biotech industry, but the head office in Melbourne doesn't see to understand how quickly this needs to occur.
-Sometimes you literally have nothing to do. It's hard for beginning employees.

    Advice to Management

As I mentioned, Melbourne office needs to realize that it must grow San Diego quickly, or at least do a more hands-off approach and let San Diego handle its own matters. Ultimately, San Diego will outpace Melbourne but I think Melbourne is afraid of that!
