I have been working at KBW full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Well-known and respected company in FIG, small deal teams, and vast deal experience

    Cons

Different culture than parent company, lack of respect for junior bankers (which is consistent within the industry)

    Pros

Great company. Was like family. Great leaders. Gain lots of experience.

    Cons

Dont think of any crazy down side. Was a great company.

I worked at KBW full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I had great relationships w/ my managing directors and had the opportunity to lead M&A transactions, follow-on offerings, etc. Pay was competitive with other boutique IB in the area.

    Cons

Management did not have the pulse of the bullpen. Sometimes one bad apple can spoil the lot and that's what happened in our case. The environment became toxic until that person was ultimately let go (after I had already left)

I have been working at KBW full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The money is very good and the management is very understanding when personal issues arise. Great coworkers and a very happy and friendly environment,

    Cons

I can't think of too many cons... sometimes there are long hours but that is just the staffing industry as a whole.

    Advice to Management

My advice to management would be to invest more into the recruiters who have been here for a while instead of just going and hiring new employees.

I worked at KBW (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people working at the firm are some of the best around. They are extremely professional and make working there dynamic and personally rewarding. A full service investment bank that really outperforms their size.

    Cons

The decline of the financial landscape and financial markets have made the industry, as a whole, a very challenging place. KBW has been affected by these challenges in a greater way because of its smaller size and the fact that it is wholly owned by a parent company.

    Advice to Management

Be honest with yourselves about how revenues are coming in the door and act accordingly. Treat the firm as a meritocracy and follow through on that sentiment.

I worked at KBW full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Still has a niche reputation for quality

    Cons

Struggling to adapt its institutional business as part of a largely retail oriented platform. Once very nurturing platform inspiring long term loyalty, now more uncertainty as to long term commitment.

    Advice to Management

    Give interns more opportunities

    Negative Outlook

I worked at KBW full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good lunches, probably nixed those in the merger though. Relatively nice offices. Not much else, no printing team for IB, so analysts should be prepared for a lot of printing & binding.

    Cons

Company seems to treat employees with little regard, hiring and firing in large swings and moving employees to other offices across the nation.

I worked at KBW full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-Culture is a lot more laidback than the traditional bulge-bracket shops
-Senior bankers treat the bullpen with a lot of respect
-Salary is in-line with what you'd expect for a boutique

    Cons

-Just because deals are smaller in size and volume, doesn't mean they expect you to be in the office any less. Face-time is still considered customary.
-Not sure how things have changed since they were acquired by Stifel.

I worked at KBW full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay is fair for a smaller firm, easy to work across divisions, top research on the street for FIG

    Cons

Limited access due to size, old boys club feel

    Advice to Management

Try and value and reward existing revenue producing areas
