I have been working at Laser Technology full-time

    Pros

Good work environment with beautiful building and grounds. Very nice co-workers and incredible products. Pride in what they deliver to the marketplace.

    Cons

Company is becoming very separated. Different divisions are making up their own rules without looking at the big picture of how those rules impact the overall company. Management doesn't want to seem to stop this by holding anyone accountable for making up rules that hurt overall business

    Advice to Management

Become the team we once were. Hold those who make up random rules accountable and do not allow any division to make up a rule or change in policy without meeting with Directors from all divisions first to see how it would impact their side of the building. There are those still employed by LTI merely because they have been there for so long and management wants to be loyal to them. Some of those people simply need to go.

I have been working at Laser Technology full-time

    Pros

Friendly atmosphere, flexible schedule (although they do manage your time off and vacation closely). Not a lot of meetings, conference calls or much travel.

    Cons

Personal efforts sometimes goes unnoticed. Many times the projects don't even get utilized. Outside of manufacturing they are not very organized Outside sales reps are not held accountable in any way. It is basically an engineering driven company with a few people directing the products and the company as a whole . They where market leaders at one time but do not differentiate themselves much in the market. Most of their products work well although some products are pieced together and difficult to represent.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to develop and communicate a business plan. They are really flying by the seat of their pants, from my limited view. If they want to continue to be an engineer driven company then they should really lead the industry with cutting edge solutions that sets the bar. If they want to be a value driven company that constantly undercuts themselves they need to branch out into new markets which for their product line is difficult.

    Pros

Decent benefits for a small company (though they change often)
    Casual & flexible work environment
Most employees are easy to get along with

    Cons

Promotions / reviews/ raises are few and far between.
Pay is OK, but on the low side for the market.
    Work can be repetitive
Management has to regain quality control & product direction

    Advice to Management

Please get a handle on what the market really needs & wants before shipping every pipe dream of a product.
