Pros

Helped me get a job very quickly.

Cons

Terms of Launchcode include a mandatory contract period with companies that want to hire you. During this period, half of my pay went to Launchcode.

Hello! We are so happy to hear you launched your career! To confirm how our model works, our programs are 100% free for learners and we do not take a portion of our LaunchCoders' income once placed with a company partner. We do utilize an apprenticeship program and companies who hire an apprentice pay LaunchCode a fee, similar to a traditional recruiter or staffing agency model. Part of that fee helps us provide health benefits to apprentices and their families. The other part of that fee goes directly back to our programs to keep them free and accessible for others! Our apprenticeship model is not mandatory – companies can choose to hire LaunchCoders directly, however more than 80% do choose apprenticeship. We encourage anymore who wants to learn more about how and why LaunchCode is free to visit our website! Thanks.

Pros

Whether or not you've gone through one of their free curriculums (LC101, CoderGirl, etc.), the mentors at LaunchCode assess each candidate's skills and personality with the dedication to match them with a company that has the right tech needs and culture to offer the best possible match for mutually beneficial employment.

Cons

Job opportunities can be restricted based on an individual's region and distance preferences.
