    Pros

Beautiful hotel and good money to be made. Employees work well together for the most part, but there is a degree of ethnocentrism that leads to inappropriate conversations and should be addressed by upper management.

    Cons

Management is very constrained by top officials and cannot make headway to improve employee morale. Due to this, some managers take their frustrations out on employees and create an unprofessional and low quality work environment.

    Advice to Management

Provide multi-cultural training to all employees so as to prevent a breakdown of morale. In addition, HR should be evaluated. The job of the HR is to be a neutral actor, this is not the case at Le Meridien. The overzealous attitude of HR and interactions with employees is unprofessional and brings morale down when employees feel they have no one to turn to, that's what HR is supposed to be there for, otherwise you're running a dictatorship not a democracy.

I have been working at Le Meridien (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    - I've worked at this hotel for ten years and have worked in five different positions, steadily increasing in pay and responsibilities. If you work hard and care about your job, management gives everybody the chance to promote and follow their interests.
    - Management has always been flexible with my schedule as well. When I went back to school and started working part-time at other jobs, all I've had to do let them know my new schedule and we were always able to work something out.
    - My mangers have always been very nice people who sincerely care about their employees.

    Cons

    - Upper and corporate management sometimes is clueless about day-to-day operations at the hotel and attempt implement policies they think will make us seem more fancy, but in practice it just slows everything down and makes the guests and employees unhappy. But that happens pretty much at every hotel.
    - A lot of mangers are afraid of conflict, so employees who show up late or do shoddy work are allowed to do so without ever getting punished.
    - The Local 2 Hotel Workers Union occasionally pickets out front of the hotel, making A LOT of noise, which is bad enough to hear all day, but made worst by the guests who complain to you about it. This is NOT the hotel's fault because the majority of employees do not want to union, but Local 2 wants to force unfair votes. Local 2 also purposely misinforms employees who speak English as a second language.

    Pros

Nice hotels. Food and Beverage division is awful, though.

    Cons

Managers could care less. At-will employment. BEWARE: will fire in a heartbeat especially in a right-to-work state like Florida.

    Advice to Management

    Treat folks with more respecr.

I worked at Le Meridien full-time

    Pros

Fun, unique, art boutique hotel that caters to a higher sense of client demands. No other hotel like it in the area. Able to provide service that lives up to the reputation of the property. Likes to promote within.

    Cons

Typical hospitality hours of hotel front office with not much consistency. With limited staffing call offs can be a real strain on a supervisor to pick up and cover the slack.
