I worked at Litera Microsystems full-time

    Pros

Great employees, good benefits, great training.

    Cons

Starts out great, but then you start to see all the politics at play in upper management.
Also, watch your back. Several people spend more time judging others and looking for you to screw up than doing their own jobs and minding their own business.

    Advice to Management

You talk a big game about communication, but it's really not that great from the top down. Make sure you're being honest with your employees.

I have been working at Litera Microsystems full-time

    Pros

Fast career growth if you want it & opportunity to transition and explore options. Strong investment from portfolio company and unique opportunities.

    Cons

Confusing leadership, alterior motive, talk a big game and don’t often deliver on promises, ultimately not built on a solid foundation. A lot of lies, odd promotion decisions, and little to no investment in people management.

    Advice to Management

Hold true to your word, stop promising things to customers we can’t deliver, set better expectations internally and externally and stop promoting people with no experience or people skills to roles that require them very heavily

I have been working at Litera Microsystems full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Awesome downtown office on the river; Beer, ping-pong, and open concept; Great people; Blend of younger and older professionals who care; Tons of room for growth as the company grows and expands; Legal market, in particular, is a great market that is growing and changing as they embrace technology and efficiency; Fair compensation; Great benefits; Leadership cares about its employees; Flexible work schedules and no time micro-management

    Cons

Very aggressive goals and targets due to acquisitions and the PE culture; Communication isn't always stellar from the top down; Tends to be a fail-fast culture, which is good for the company and its current employees, but if you aren't a good fit it is best for all parties to find a different role in the company or a different place to be successful (not necessarily a con, I suppose); While not a "punch the clock" culture, expect to work in a demanding environment. Excellence is expected!

    Advice to Management

Continue to stress communication and transparency; Don't grow too fast and forget about the people that make it happen; Continue to promote from within!

I have been working at Litera Microsystems full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very cool culture; Good amount of diversity in age and race; Continuous development opportunities from management; Incredible talent to be inspired by and technical skill to learn from; Lots of variety and dynamism in your day to day activities; Plenty of room for creative thinking/ solutions which are recognized and rewarded for by management; As an outsider it seems like a niche industry, but it is extensive and ever growing; Constant room for lateral and vertical career moves; Initiative and pro-activity is rewarded.

    Cons

Challenging KPI's; Initial learning curve requires patience to overcome; Non-performers are weeded out (also a pro).

    Advice to Management

Continue rewarding high performers; Be watchful that new opportunities are presented equally and transparently to the organization; Keep listening to the individuals who have invested in growing the company.

I have been working at Litera Microsystems full-time

    Pros

The organization has been going through a lot of recent changes but management does a great job at being transparent and keeping us in the loop. Seeing the many changes and promotions within the organization shows that work hard does get rewarded!

    - Open friendly work environment
    - Great benefits, work life balance, generous PTO Policy, flexibility

    Cons

Company is growing/moving rapidly. If you are not up for constant change and challenges, this can be viewed as a con.

    Advice to Management

Keep being transparent and keep growing!

I have been working at Litera Microsystems full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Great management/ executive team that is transparent
    - Employees are all extremely talented and bright
    - Culture that is motivating, fun and open
    - Hard work is recognized and rewarded regularly
    - Good work/ life balance
    - Affordable benefits
    - You are given an opportunity to take on a lot of responsibility and ownership of your work/department

    Cons

    - There are natural growing pains, but the fact that they are so open about these challenges and address them head on helps overcome those.
    - There are virtual team so this does require you to be able to manage your own workload and be flexible working with others in different time zones.

    Advice to Management

Management is great, but I would just keep in mind that all strategies may not continue to work as the company continues to grow. Start thinking of solutions that are scalable.
