I really love our team. Collaboration and transparency are hallmarks of our company culture. We're almost like family since there are several of us that have been with the company for many years.
The work is challenging and everyday is different. Working in a small company, my teammates and I often wear multiple hats and have to manage shifting priorities. You learn to roll with the punches and develop a good humor about it.
As a small we build some of the most beautiful modern living spaces in DC which is a source of pride for me personally.
I also like that we don't have retail clients but build everything on spec for the market. The benefit of that is we don't have to deal with last second change orders.
Cons
The only real downside for me is lack of scale. Unlike in production homebuilding where if you solve one problem you're solving that problem 200 times over, in our business, each problem is a one off.
DC is a tough and expensive environment to build in, but that's also why there's opportunity there I suppose.
