I have been working at MSC Software full-time

    Pros

A great company with a long history in the CAE world. The executive board and other leadership representatives are extremely knowledgeable and are very passionate about the CAE industry. They really encourage their teams to be innovative, creative, and to never stop learning. They let you take the reigns on your projects and encourage out of the box thinking. If you're a driven individual with a passion for technology, then this is the place for you.

    Cons

Since MSC is an international company, you have to be comfortable communicating with others remotely.

    Advice to Management

Continue investing in your employees and invest some more resources into the company culture and it will really pay off

I worked at MSC Software (More than a year)

    Pros

A great company with some of the smartest individuals across all aspects of the CAE Industry -- Everyone from seasoned product development experts all the way through Sales and Application Engineering professionals who know how to help customers solve problems. MSC has the resources and mentors to help you grow within the CAE Realm and most importantly, as I saw first hand, wants to help you learn how to help their customers tackle challenges.

    Cons

Resources are spread across the country/world, so you must be comfortable communicating/planning remotely.

I worked at MSC Software full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There are a lot of talented people, working hard in a very flat organization. This means that you will get to wear a variety of hats and try new things. Nevertheless, engineering is really the focus of the company. I was in a small, 9-person group focused on performance aspects of the company's software products. My manager was great, and I got to work on several of the companies best products.

    Cons

The focus on the new product, Apex, comes at the expense of the existing products, it seems. They are under-resourced. As a result, working on the existing products it feels like you have to do things that would be offloaded to another team at a larger, more hierarchical company.

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to career paths, and make sure engineers who want it see a viable path for them. Create more opportunities by loosening up the roles, providing younger engineers a chance to try managing smaller teams more frequently. Compensate them for doing so.

    Pros

This is an amazing company. The people are incredible and extremely smart. Very welcoming and engaging people. Great thinkers creators and problem solvers. I was never bored one millisecond. MSC Apex was a game changer and I loved being part of the design team. The CEO Dominic is brilliant and one of the smartest and creative leaders I know. He is a visionary and great at what he does. Also I was so lucky to work with the leaders of the MSC Apex project all of which are outstanding especially the lead designer of the product. Everyone involved with MSC Apex are top of their game and this IS the product to be part of.

    Cons

I don't have any cons. I loved and still love this company.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing. The management is kind and smart and know how to guide the employees appropriately.

    Pros

*Apex is a true game-changer. Extremely exciting product.
*Nearly Autonomous Operations. Ability to create own schedule, travel, etc. Very little micromanagement of accounts.
*No expectations of mistake-free sales processes.
*Benefits are better than other opportunities I've seen.
    *Work/Life Balance is great.
*Strong VP of WW Sales who cares about Sales Team.
*Direct Manager was one of best I've ever had.
    *Awesome camaraderie amongst Account Managers.
*Pre-Sales teams for Legacy Products are professional and hardworking. Great partners!

    Cons

*Sales Admin team is understaffed but has improved significantly in response time the past 3-months.
*Still a bit unclear as to what corporate culture/values/vision are?

    Advice to Management

*Continued focus on SOLUTION selling not a single product (acquired or new).
*Acquired product teams (Technical and BC) should be forced to learn MSC portfolio the same as everyone else.
*DO NOT delegate account distribution to director level.
    *What is MSCs overarching strategy/vision?!?!
