I worked at Max Studio full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Independent job.
    - Flexible with schedules.
    -Traditional company.

    Cons

    - Max Studio does not practice or have any company culture.
    - Communication with your manager/directors is "Old way".
-"Get your job Done" kind of company.
    - They do not have update merchandise brochures/manuals.

    Advice to Management

My experience was not the best. My manager was really as a Merchandiser but I do not believe in the companies that still practice "Because I am your boss you have to do this".
-If you wanted to give any feedback to improve the processes (even doing a extra job) the answer was "Focus in your job and that's it".

I worked at Max Studio full-time

    Pros

    - Yearly Christmas bonuses
    - 70% employee discount for corporate employees, 80% discount on employee appreciation days
    - Lots of shopping nearby corporate headquarters, it was very easy for me to run all of my errands during my lunch break
    - Good health insurance
    - Free In 'n Out burger on employee appreciation days

    Cons

    - No 401k
    - Outdated & abusive managing techniques
    - Resistant to any kind of change or suggestions
    - Executives prefer to sweep issues under the rug instead of dealing with them
    - If you work in design, don't actually think they'll allow you to be creative. Management is very controlling and will not allow any creative freedom.
    - Very low salary & not much PTO
    - No vision insurance
    - You have to beg for a day off
    - Long hours (typically 9am-7:30pm on a good night but sometimes stayed as late as 9:30pm), NO work/life balance
    - Expected to work some Saturdays without overtime if you are salary
    - Very unorganized & individual roles/ responsibilities are unclear
    - Very understaffed and take way too long to hire help

    Advice to Management

Allow your design team to contribute creatively & do not give so much power to someone who does not know how to effectively manage. Listen to your employees and be open to change. Treat employees with dignity and respect; understand that a work/life balance is essential to happy employees.

I worked at Max Studio (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great management, team atmosphere, they really take care of their employees. Managers had authority to make hiring and disciplinary decisions

    Cons

Corporate could increase starting wage for full time employees and key holders especially. Corporate would keep more good managers by paying them a more competitive wage

    Advice to Management

Look into what other mid to high end boutique key holders and store managers make and match that. Positive reinforcement is one of the best tools you can use

I worked at Max Studio full-time

    Pros

My team was very nice. By far the most relaxed group of people I have worked with in this industry.

    Cons

WOW! They are not upfront about pay, titles, responsibilities, etc. I am more than willing to wear a few hats but I should also know what is exactly expected of my in return for their investment. I should be doing the job of 3 people day in and day out but be compensated for 1 person.

    Advice to Management

Learn to be transparent especially when the right questions are asked!!

I worked at Max Studio part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

This was an amazing place to work. The clothing and accessories are made with the highest quality &the styles and colors are beautiful, classy, and elegant. I helped open one of the stores and everything was setup so when u walk in,you see nothing but amazing high class clothing with colors that are gorgeous on any skin shade. I loved the products I was selling.

    Cons

I could only work with the company a short time because I was going to school. I definitely wouldn't of left so shortly

I have been working at Max Studio full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Easy to get hours, generous pay, lots pf regular clientele.

    Cons

Lack of communication within store management, unproffesionalism within regional/corporate. Employees are overworked and dont recieve any compensation, not even a "good job" or "thank you." The corporate managers dont care about their employees or their personal lives. They have a "not my problem" attitude & care only about numbers being made & not the well being of the people making their numbers!

    Advice to Management

If you'd stop overlooking your team and appreciate the hard work they put in, you'd have an amazing company and bring in many more numbers. Stop complaining about small things being done wrong & reward everything being done right!!! Remember, the staff in the store is a reflection of corporate/regional management who have done nothing to properly train us.

I have been working at Max Studio part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Laid back place of business. The staff is not that large. Paper work is very small. A little hard to stay busy due to there is little work that needs to be done. Great job if you are in school. Base pay is good and commission is available.

    Cons

Hard to get on because it is a small staff. No raises unless promoted to full time. No benefits for part-timers. If you like to stay busy this might not be the job for you.

    Advice to Management

Not a lot of paper work besides Monday's. A lot more laid back than most places. Extremely flexible when it comes to hours.

I worked at Max Studio full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

decent salary and great medical and dental benefits

    Cons

if you dont have a life and you like working 12hours a day, this is the place for you! leaving on time is frowned upon and you are expected to work late, minimum 10-12hours a day which i think is illegal eventhough you are in salary pay. you are to asked permission from your supervisor if you are okay to go home for the day eventhough its already 9pm otherwise, you are going to get chewed the next day. There is no process on how things are done so you will get lost and no one will help you. No one is accountable for anything and a lot of the older people who have been there for ages are divas. the days are very intense and you are always walking on eggshells, there's a lot of yelling and bad work ethic from upper management, get ready to be humiliated in front of everybody. if you dont have a thick skin, this place is not for you! for a corporate company this sure does run like a sweatshop!

    Advice to Management

make your employees happy by not overworking them! create a process!

    Great District Manager
    Generous employee discount
    2 week in advance schedule

    Cons

Pressure to make monthly goal (not a problem for outgoing types)
Felt like I had to be fake with people
    Occasional rude customer
    Occasional rude store manager

    Advice to Management

Do not mock your employees when trying to teach them selling techniques.
