I worked at Max Studio full-time

    Pros

    - Yearly Christmas bonuses
    - 70% employee discount for corporate employees, 80% discount on employee appreciation days
    - Lots of shopping nearby corporate headquarters, it was very easy for me to run all of my errands during my lunch break
    - Good health insurance
    - Free In 'n Out burger on employee appreciation days

    Cons

    - No 401k
    - Outdated & abusive managing techniques
    - Resistant to any kind of change or suggestions
    - Executives prefer to sweep issues under the rug instead of dealing with them
    - If you work in design, don't actually think they'll allow you to be creative. Management is very controlling and will not allow any creative freedom.
    - Very low salary & not much PTO
    - No vision insurance
    - You have to beg for a day off
    - Long hours (typically 9am-7:30pm on a good night but sometimes stayed as late as 9:30pm), NO work/life balance
    - Expected to work some Saturdays without overtime if you are salary
    - Very unorganized & individual roles/ responsibilities are unclear
    - Very understaffed and take way too long to hire help

    Advice to Management

Allow your design team to contribute creatively & do not give so much power to someone who does not know how to effectively manage. Listen to your employees and be open to change. Treat employees with dignity and respect; understand that a work/life balance is essential to happy employees.

I worked at Max Studio full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Independent job.
    - Flexible with schedules.
    -Traditional company.

    Cons

    - Max Studio does not practice or have any company culture.
    - Communication with your manager/directors is "Old way".
-"Get your job Done" kind of company.
    - They do not have update merchandise brochures/manuals.

    Advice to Management

My experience was not the best. My manager was really as a Merchandiser but I do not believe in the companies that still practice "Because I am your boss you have to do this".
-If you wanted to give any feedback to improve the processes (even doing a extra job) the answer was "Focus in your job and that's it".

I worked at Max Studio full-time

    Pros

-Immediate team was very easy to work with and open to new ideas
    -Great internal team collaboration

    Cons

    -Barely any holidays given
-Communication is awful, organization structure of the company is very scattered
-Upper management is constantly trying to bring down anyone who has ideas that are different from their own, very hostile environment
-Toxic personal relationships interfere with the workflow of the rest of the teams
-Job titles don't mean anything, you are thrown all sorts of projects with not enough salary

    Advice to Management

Stop bringing personal issues into the workplace! Improve company culture so company moral improves and be open to new ideas! Such an ancient mindset is present here with the upper management.

I worked at Max Studio (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great management, team atmosphere, they really take care of their employees. Managers had authority to make hiring and disciplinary decisions

    Cons

Corporate could increase starting wage for full time employees and key holders especially. Corporate would keep more good managers by paying them a more competitive wage

    Advice to Management

Look into what other mid to high end boutique key holders and store managers make and match that. Positive reinforcement is one of the best tools you can use

I worked at Max Studio full-time

    Pros

My team was very nice. By far the most relaxed group of people I have worked with in this industry.

    Cons

WOW! They are not upfront about pay, titles, responsibilities, etc. I am more than willing to wear a few hats but I should also know what is exactly expected of my in return for their investment. I should be doing the job of 3 people day in and day out but be compensated for 1 person.

    Advice to Management

Learn to be transparent especially when the right questions are asked!!

I loved the products I was selling.

    Cons

I could only work with the company a short time because I was going to school. I definitely wouldn't of left so shortly

    Friendly environment.
More than often, the store manager would buy us food.
The regional manager is friendly as well.

    Cons

Working in a store full of women is often too much drama.

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up.

    Pros

open to give out hours depending on your availability

    Cons

high expectations no employee appreciation; horrible benefits, only benefit is overtime, no 401K, no FMLA, insurance is very expensive, this company has absolutely no management structure, let alone a policy and procedure which is why they expect the most from employees to develop themselves. anytime there was a problem (IT-issues) we had to contact the direct IT guy who never answered and would expect us to just fix the problem. the CEO is rude and shows no appreciation to any employees! he visits stores twice a year and shows no praise for the work employees are doing instead will tell you everything everyone's doing wrong! excuse me CEO but you give us no direction of what you want so what do you expect?

    Advice to Management

advice to the company- give more structure, set up a policy and procedure so everyone can do things the same way correctly, show more appreciation for the employees that are running your business. maybe investing more in your employees will make up for all the lack of everything else.
