I have been working at Medical Science & Computing full-time

    Pros

People get taken care of! It is a great environment characterized by a culture over process mindset. It is easy to rally behind a strong culture focused so much on taking care of the customer. And since the main customer is NIH, its fun and meaningful!

    Cons

Specific to corporate...It is definitely a place for people that want to come to work and be a part of something! It can take a different level of commitment and passion. The environment can be intensive and enthusiastic... I love it! But if you are just looking for a stepping stone or something to simply fill your time, than its probably not for you.

    Advice to Management

As we keep growing, please keep giving your employees the same growth and career opportunities that you have been over the past several years. And keep bringing in smart people. Keep it up!

I have been working at Medical Science & Computing full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pay is average, but benefits are really good

Program staff are very supportive of contractors on site, and care about the government customer

Company is growing fast and still pays attention to individual employees, less of a corporate feel and more like a family

    Cons

Contractors don't interact with other programs much, would be nice to know more about what other people are doing

Everything feels very secretive, you are told only what you need to know

    Advice to Management

Let programs interact more, help experienced contractors move up into new roles so they aren't stuck in the same job. Please keep up the attention to detail and consideration, just share with us a little more please.

I have been working at Medical Science & Computing full-time

    Pros

So far, it has been great. Flexible schedule/teleworking is encouraged, relaxed and informal working environment, family friendly summer BBQ and holiday party, coworkers are very friendly, and company seems to have good relationship with clients.

    Cons

MSC was acquired in 2016 by another contracting company that does not have a great reputation, so it remains to be seen how this will affect MSC. I did not find out about this until several months later from a coworker; there was no announcement to employees. Also, they do not give you much notice about whether or not contracts with clients will be renewed, which can be stressful.

    Advice to Management

Please keep your employees better informed on what is happening with the company.

Employees are wonderful to work with

    Cons

    Pros

MSC is led by a management team that is passionate about the mission and supporting Health IT programs. PMs are engaged with on site employees and help relations with clients.

    Cons

Employees on site with clients do not always know what is happening with the company.

I have been working at Medical Science & Computing full-time

    Pros

The company is supportive of staff on contracts, much more than others I have worked on. The size allows you to be known by management, and the people I have interacted with are competent and operate from a place of having my best interest in mind.

    Cons

As the company grows it may be becoming harder to get everyone together, so teams don't get to compare notes and best practices.

    Advice to Management

Bring professionals with similar skill sets together a few times a year so that the company can build on its success by creating an atmosphere where employees can share best practices and establish lines of communication across teams.
