I have been working at Metronome full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great opportunities to learn and grow. Mgmt willing to invest in technologies and resources. Although the hours were long, it is a great stepping stone in anyone's career.

    Cons

Office space was small and lacking a really good lab. The staging area was very limited in terms of resources and power.

    Advice to Management

Continue to invest in training and technology.

    Pros

Metronome allowed its employees to jump around and wear many hats. This was mostly due in part of being a start-up company, but never-the-less allowed for a wide array learning on most any relevant material.

    Cons

Management was absolutely horrible. During the time I was working there, the software manager expected the impossible. This was due in part to his lack of software or engineer background. The pay was very modest, and the bonuses were non-existent. This job was nothing more than a resume builder, don't expect to have this job until you plan to retire.

    Advice to Management

Being first branded as a hardware/networking company and then dabbling in software, I would suggest that they get a real manager that has been in the trenches and knows what a software life cycle consists of.

I worked at Metronome full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Very likable co-workers, solid customer base, great work/life balance for a consulting firm, desire to do right by the customer in all cases, learning opportunities

    Cons

Immature as a company. Merger with another company was a disaster and resulted in a mass exodus of top talent. Compensation was marginal at best, partially due to out of pocket expenses usually covered by consulting firms.
