I worked at Micro Strategies full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    There are great employees.
The location tends to not have much traffic.

    Cons

There is zero strategy. This refers to solutions, staffing and overall business. Ask a sales rep what they sell and the answer changes like the wind.

    Advice to Management

STRATEGY. Develop one as soon as possible on all fronts.

I worked at Micro Strategies full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Micro is a very versatile company and an industry leader in the IT consulting market. They offer many opportunities for employees to learn and build on their skill sets and if you are willing to put in the hours you can excel. The pay and benefits are fair and unlike many companies, if you work long hours and on weekends, you can get additional pay if you meet your monthly billing goals.

    Cons

The biggest con I had was with the middle management teams. There seems to be a loss of vision from the top down when it comes to how they manage and treat people. In many cases I witnessed some managers berate lower level employees in front of an entire department. In addition they tend to play favorites and will even let hard working talented people go without reason if the egos of the managers are threatened.

    Advice to Management

Recognize when you have truly hard working talented people who actually want to help the company grow and succeed. And do all you can to retain and reward such people instead of catering to the middle managers who only care about themselves.

Top Heavy on Senior Management - does not enable decision making and budget responsibility through the ranks

I worked at Micro Strategies full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great experience and able to get hands on with many different types of platforms. Able to work overtime and actually get paid for it.

    Cons

Not a company one can trust. There is a lot of back stabbing and one can not trust what other employees will say. Management will fire you just to save themselves and not defend you one bit when issues arise. They expect you to work at a high level, but also expect you to run a virus scan on systems for customers all day.

    Advice to Management

Separate the high level technicians from the day to day workstation technicians. Be honest, not jealous and have a conscious when it comes with treating employees with respect and honesty.

I worked at Micro Strategies full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good hands on experience, somewhat tight knit employee base, A few nice company events during the year.

    Cons

Shady practices, laughable compensation, Health insurance although provided is very expensive especially if you have a family. I am single and did not have to pay that much toward mine ~100 a paycheck.

    Advice to Management

Don't take the Holiday or day before the holiday and leave the rest of the company in the dust. Get serious about compensation or you will find yourselves unable to hold on to good talent especially with the job market on the upswing.
