I have been working at Moda Health full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Moda is the only company that I have ever worked for that values their employees and makes sure they are taken care of. We truly feel like a work family.

    Cons

As with any job, it seems like health benefits are going down hill as a whole but Moda's $200 deductible and excellent rx benefits, beats most employer health plans these days.

    Advice to Management

I would say maybe to consider reviewing and increasing existing and new employee wages to match competitors in order to retain good employees.

    Pros

Great benefits and opportunity for growth available.

    Cons

Miscommunication between departments that should be working together tends to hinder more successful work from being done.

    Advice to Management

To stay on the same page when it comes to new and existing policies.

I worked at Moda Health full-time

    Pros

    Downtown Portland, Public Transportation.

    Cons

Total Micro Management with no room for progress, innovation or new ideas. The training department at Moda is simply terrible. The 2 managers of that department play favorites. If you are an external job seeker beware. There are always openings in that area because they like to enforce the 90 day probation period. If you don’t do things their way they will let you go on day 89 without any prior notice. Pay attention at the interview to the names of the systems they use. They are under the impression that they are using the latest and greatest, maybe because the managers of that department have worked at Moda since the beginning of time and they have no concept what is going on in the real world. If you bring this fact to their attention or give your opinion, just pack up your desk and get ready to leave. Bottom line, you do it their way and no other way. Also if you show an interest in getting to know other people in other areas of the company, they don’t like that either. You could say that this is just another angry review by a disgruntled employee and a company like Moda wouldn’t have managers in those roles if they weren’t qualified and deserving. Let the turnover speak for itself.

    Advice to Management

Talented hardworking employees do not just leave a company for no reason what so ever. It starts with the managers. Then add in the equation of training, which is vital to the success of every new and existing employee. If you have ineffective managers hiring internal employees with no training experience to create training and hiring external employees with new ideas, with talent and abilities that are not able to be used you have a recipe for disaster. Time to clean house and make some serious needed changes if you want to continue to be a successful company.

    Pros

There are no pros for this

    Cons

You have to supply everything there oh except water, the Portland office pretty much takes priority as far as time off for the Alaska office as only 2 people can be off same time, 100% micro managed, can't say anything right on the phones, training is not sufficient

    Advice to Management

Proved better training, treat employees better

I worked at Moda Health full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - There are certainly some smart and motivated analysts working here (unfortunately they often do not get the support or recognition that they deserve)
    - IT Help Desk staff are uncharacteristically responsive and a pleasure to deal with

    Cons

    - Leadership does not invest or possibly understand newer technologies and processes (eg. there is no automation)
    - Analytic data sets are often inaccurate and/or built in such a way that it requires analysts to perform complex and time consuming data transformations for simple reports and analyses
    - Benefits and pay are not competitive

    Advice to Management

    - Invest in more current technologies
    - Review pay scales and benefits to be more in alignment with competitors

I worked at Moda Health full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Flex time is nice ,but horrible mandatory overtime expected.

    Cons

Raises are minimal . Management does not value employees opinions. Employees can always be replaced in their minds. You can get further up within the company if you are female and know someone in Managment. If you're a guy, odds are stacked way against you. There isn't much opportunity for advancement.

    Advice to Management

Quit so they can get people on there who cares.

I worked at Moda Health full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fast pace and always something to do here. There are a variety of jobs and ways to move within the company. Good pay and benefits.

    Cons

Not enough training here. Trainers aren't willing to help or answer questions and you get set up for failure. This along with poor management that looks the other way when there are issues or harassment make for a hostile work environment!

    Advice to Management

Management needs to investigate employees concerns with coworkers and/or supervisors instead of turning a blind eye. Management also need to know that there is close to zero training for the Milwaukie branch. Employees are thrown in and set up for failure from day one because of upset and hostile employees, lack of knowledge of supervisors and the carelessness shown for organization and safety. They force employees to drive trucks with broken mirrors and without any proper training courses showing employees how to drive the extra large vehicles safely. They are very quick to anger and become frustrated with little questions any new employee would have. Makes for a hostile work environment for everyone. There was many cases of harassment and bullying but employees are told to "get over it".
