I worked at Moore Capital Management full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Had good experience here, learned a lot from smart people, helpful HR team, good hours, employees are nice and knowledgeable. Open office floor plan and can generally walk up to anyone if you have a question.

    Cons

Overall I had a good experience at the firm. Just like any other firm, some people might not like it as much. It's all relative.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook

I worked at Moore Capital Management part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Amenities etc: Free lunch ($13min) corporate seamless/ fully stocked pantry with cereal, yogurt, juices and soft drinks/ Starbucks coffee & awesome espresso machine/ Nice gym/yoga & pilates studio / eucalyptus towels / fitness classes

In the summer they hold a speaker series for interns IR/ bus dev / PMs / COO etc

People are really friendly so don't hesitate to reach out to those outside of your team.

Chance of getting an offer are high if you add value and can point to inefficiencies (many) /correct & change.

    Cons

Outdated / old systems & software

Old-school aversion to technological change/ innovation. For example, the adaptation rate of new native software apps and tools are extremely slow or non-existent, which ends up bloating the workload and productivity of the tech & data teams.

For some reason Interns 21/ovr aren't invited to the holiday party. Just kind of disappointing since it's so highly buzzed about and anticipated throughout the trading floor /company.

CEO is an enigma has a strange looming God-like fearing presence. When we moved to the new building he has the only non-transparent glass office. I guess this isn't totally a con it's just bizarre and very awkward if you run into him in the elevator bank.

    Advice to Management

The Finance industry is increasingly becoming more and more tech savvy. It is the staple of the most successful and new firms. This shouldn't be taken lightly and upper management should pay more attention to the benefits of productivity increasing tools. You can teach an old dog new tricks...

To HR: Summer interns and year-round /grad interns should be given the same treatment during the summer. I know summer interns are apart of an 8-week "program" but still very odd/ awkward when only they were invited to events/ concerts or networking events...

I worked at Moore Capital Management full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Always a professional environment, offers competitive pay, bonus and benefits, very convenient location and nice modern offices. Great place to start, grow and stay.

    Cons

The employees never really leave which does not leave a lot of room for promotions, but that makes it more like a pro.

    Advice to Management

Be more transparent about how bonuses are determined.

I have been working at Moore Capital Management full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

There are very smart people working there to learn from and you will have access to the best the street has to offer.

    Cons

Sometimes it's a little too big, you need to make sure you have something real to contribute and the ability to relay it clearly if you want to stand out and be heard.

    Advice to Management

Remember where you make your returns, the investment side of the firm is the engine that drives the whole company.

    Pros

Surrounded by a lot of smart, harding working people. A good place to start in Finance.

    Cons

Extremely fast paced, and hard to follow some of the very interesting investment thesis and ideas.

    Advice to Management

Be more willing to give opportunities to recent college graduates.

    Pros

You learn a lot and the people are really nice and willing to give advice. FREE FOOD! starbucks, tea etc fully stocked fridge and pantry, and the free lunch orders are a huge plus.

    Cons

As an intern it's really an amazing place to be. All of upper management and even analyst positions are so aspirational that you really wish you could be them. That's the big con at Moore because they dangle this amazing life in front of you with no promise of being apart of it full time. They do not hire their interns :(.

    Advice to Management

you're doing great! wish there were more opportunities for full time hire
