I worked at NBA Properties full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Strong executive team. Looking to make NBA a world class place to work .

    Cons

Functional areas tend to work in silos...need to promote more cross functional collaboration

    I worked at NBA Properties

    Pros

Nice to work for the NBA. Sometimes you get to attend live events - behind the scenes look at things.

    Cons

Ability to advance is limited and is based on who is liked rather than actual work. Nepotism exists. Raises are hard to come by.

    Advice to Management

Be fair. Don't lie about the chance to move up then get stuck for 5+ years at the same position.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at NBA Properties for more than 5 years

    Pros

Widely recognized company. Looks good on the resume.

    Cons

Not much opportunity or advancement at all. Pretty much no quality of life because of the very long hours of just waiting for people in management to make decisions on the most basic jobs. The "Cool Kids" bullying mentality of upper management reminds me a lot of when I was in high school.

    Advice to Management

This company is very cliquish. Management should promote people who actually have the skills and qualities to be managers. They should also stop giving those promotions to friends and people who they are having inappropiate work relationships with. This is a major problem running rampant through this company and apparently the best way to get advanced.

I have been working at NBA Properties

    Pros

In my experience, I've worked with some really great and genuine people who are willing to help you learn and grow and whom you can build lasting relationships with. It does look good and impressive on a resume.

    Cons

There is a slight difference in what they expouse about work/life balance and what actually happens due to the amount of work that needs to be done and the deficit of hands to do it in a balanced way. The NBA keeps itself pretty lean when it comes to actual workers and as it's been my experience it can be a battle to get fair compensation if you've been with the company for a while. Very Top Heavy with many executives...

    Advice to Management

Provide clear job descriptions/roles, hire from within, create compensation ranges for positions to maintain fair and competitive and balance inequality (equal pay for equal work), promotions based on work and contributions.
