Pros
NVR offers opportunities for career growth and advancement within the construction industry, allowing employees to develop their skills and climb the professional ladder. The company has a strong commitment to quality and customer satisfaction, providing a sense of pride in delivering high-quality housing projects to homeowners. NVR fosters a collaborative work environment where team members can collaborate on housing projects, fostering a sense of camaraderie and teamwork.
Cons
The nature of the construction industry often involves demanding physical labor and exposure to challenging working conditions, which may not be suitable for individuals seeking less physically demanding roles. The construction industry can be subject to fluctuations in the housing market, which may impact job stability and project availability during economic downturns. Given the focus on project timelines and deliverables, working at NVR may involve strict deadlines and occasional pressure to meet project goals, requiring a strong ability to manage time and handle stress effectively.

Tread carefully with your family's livelihood
Apr 6, 2023 - Solutions Architect in Reston, VARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
(1). Initial salary should be negotiated as high as possible. (2). Black and white bonus structure (up to 30% for certain levels) = Net Income + Total Home Sales, straightforward. (3). ESOP program. (4). That is it, it's all about the dollars.
Cons
(1). Employee culture has a lot to be desired. (2). NVR is NOT an IT-based firm, < 3% of staff positions of ~6600 are IT-related (3). 401K program is almost non-existent, only $1000 match. (4). No work-life balance, no flexibility to work from home (rare), need to be at your desk 5 days per week, and NVRT management walks the floors in the PM. Very sad. (5). Senior leadership claims to be conservative, and in the bigger picture of business they are, but how they project staffing against home building projections is highly questionable. There is longevity of "certain" employees, but that is NOT representative of the norm. (6). Old school management style(from the 80's), senior leadership tells NVR Technology (NVRT) management what their budget they will receive. NVRT leadership really does not have any input, no matter what they state or claim to NVRT employees. This affects both merit increases and staffing levels. (7). NVRT middle management professional integrity, and in some cases personal integrity, is questionable.

RUN this company is cut throat
May 1, 2023 - Production SupervisorRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I really do not have anything good to say. This was the worst six months of my life they left me in financial ruin right out of college. Also, these positive reviews are fake. NO ONE IS HAPPY AT NVR. I genuinely hope I save people from working here. For your family and own happiness do not come to NVR or Ryan Homes. Honestly feel bad for people that cannot afford to quit their Job at ryan homes or nvr
Cons
I worked INCREDIBLY hard just to get laid off after They promised in interviews that they never have layoffs. TERRIBLE ONBOARDING, no support from upper management. No work-life balance. Refused to pay over time that was owed to me. TOXIC CORPORATE CULTURE. I am almost certain NVR gets these reviews deleted somehow. I am a HARD WORKER and they will take advantage of that and abuse you by hurling you toward their biggest problems with no reward. If you succeed here they will punish you for it highly recommend doing the most minimal amount of work here because they do not care about you and you will be given easier assignments

Pros
Salary is great, benefits package is decent
Cons
Management is out of touch with reality and sets unrealistic/unattainable goals which guarantees them that they’ll never be backed into a corner because no matter how well you do they will always have something to point out that you did wrong and hold it against you. The corporate teams (closing, disclosure desk, shipping) are overseen by managers that are ineffective and obsessed with unrealistic expectations, which contributes to incredibly high turnover and low engagement from their teams. Overall, I would not recommend.

Hard work grate pay
Mar 18, 2023 - Multicraftsman in Thurmont, MDRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Worked for the thurmont plant for 9yrs in the panel department. The pay was grate and the people I worked with where amazing. The benefits where grate as well. Medical was amazing and cheap. They also invested in there workers along with giving company stocks. This really made me feel I had skin in the game and motivated me to help the company succeed knowing I would benefits from this also. Grate place to work and grow if you got the drive to succeed.
Cons
Upper management seemed to be disconnected from what it actually took to make things work. My department manager and below where awesome at making things happen. The management above on the other hand seemed to think things should happen overnight. They where making positive changes when I left in there defense.
