I have been working at Navy Exchange full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, people, and it's all tax free. Easy to talk with others and hear old war stories while you work. Customers are always well mannered and happy to be able to shop there.

    Cons

Store hours are open until 8pm or 9pm. But if that is all, other retailers stay open even later. The pay could be better, but it is retail

    Advice to Management

Always do your best. When you make a mistake, don't beat yourself up... what makes you a great manager is how you deal with the mistakes and how you fix them.

I have been working at Navy Exchange part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It is a great company to work for if you are the spouse of a service member due to the fact that your job is transferable to other locations if the service member receives new orders. Job security.

    Cons

I have experienced lots of schedule conflicts do to management wanting different hours of the day to be covered then were scheduled previously.

    Advice to Management

If you put something in writing keep to that. Don't expect people to be able to change their schedule at a moments notice and don't change people's schedule without asking them due to the fact that you want different coverage.

I worked at Navy Exchange part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It was a wonderful opportunity to provide service for our activity duty and retired military personnel and their families.

    Cons

It is very difficult to get full-time hours. The pay is low and the schedule is always changing.

    Advice to Management

Stop cutting back the hours. You lose good people who want to work there. Raise the salaries of your workers. How can they provide for their families when you pay only $8 per hour and give them 20 hours a week. The management makes a decent salary, but it's still low.
