    Pros

Great startup environment with lots of great people

    Cons

Went south quickly after bring acquired by ibm

    Advice to Management

Nothing really - made money off the stock which is always nice... IBM stinks though

I worked at Netezza full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Netezza pioneered the concept of a "database appliance" which bundles hardware, OS, and database software into a single purpose-built server that is delivered ready to go. Doing technical support for this product is an excellent way for someone starting their career to gain exposure to the entire stack.

    Cons

Netezza being a leading edge product is willing to make aggressive design decisions that sometimes have unexpected side effects that need to be corrected in later releases.

    Pros

Good benefits, excellent culture, great team work, regular social activities, good employee morale, innovative.

CEO had regular breakfast meetings with all levels of employees to get a good feel of how things were going.

    Cons

Unfortunately got acquired by IBM and things were never the same again. Too much red tape resulted. Forced to migrate to bloated processes and very dated systems.

    Advice to Management

Should have stayed a small/medium enterprise. Was doing great!

    Cons

I worked at Netezza full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great benefits
    Good compensation
Work was rewarded based on performance

    Cons

    No longer exists
Very fast paced environment which leaves very little room for error

    Advice to Management

Being that Netezza was a smaller company, input from more employees on the direction of products might have led to better decisions. The switch from custom based hardware to off-the-shelf IBM gear wasn't the best strategy for the company.

    Pros

Many smart people, very open to ideas. Willing to banter about ideas. Some good experiences at the water cooler talking about projects. There's always something interesting happening.

The product is supreme. It really is. But it's limited and there's much good work to be done building out the feature-set - happening at lightening speed. Very energetic. Very "exciting" which is not the cliche term it could be. They're for real.

    Cons

Development can be a bit chaotic as forces work themselves but all small companies pivot on a dime.

    Advice to Management

Tend to hesitate a hair too long before making decisions.

    Pros

the people there are fantastic...real humans, made many friends
many of sr. managers are true leaders
    pizza every friday
Social events where well done especially in support department!
management kept people in the loop moreso than I have seen anywhere else
    people were respected

    Cons

many, many long hours at the time but that was pre-ipo, stock should be in a better place if not for market
need to change up from only pizza on fridays ;)

    Advice to Management

remember it is the people who work there that make it what it is

    Pros

Great place to work, people were fair, you were well treated and the work was fun.

The product was very good and the team was very well organized and managed.

The company culture was excellent and if I did not have to relocate, I would not have left Netezza. I'm certain that in a couple of years, with the market recovery, the stock will do very well.

    Cons

Long hours, some people were "special" but thankfully they left.

The sales team tended to be a little less technical than I would have liked and some times they ended up making meaningless commitments.

    Advice to Management

    Great job, keep it up

    Pros

pre IbM Acquisiton - a fantastic solution for DW and a great bunch of people to deal with. Highly innovative roadmap for DW.

    Cons

Post IBM acquisition - flakey promises on innovation, most employees of Netezza were either quick to exit (within 12 months of acquisiton) or paid to stay, either way, it was a traumatic expericence, leading to the destruction of a fantastic business and customer partnership. - IBM doesnt work - and they dont care about customers. 'Empty suits' as a long term cusomer descibes them is absolutley the best desciption. Beware of future technology promises and any suggestion that NETEZZA remains. Total dismatlement of US and EMEA Netezza Organisation is either partially or completely achieved. Sad but totally true.

    Advice to Management

You dont underand and frankly dont care. What a travesty! Anyone considering a career move to IBM Netezza needs to ask how many sales have you achieved in the last 12 months.
