I have been working at Netsmart full-time

    Pros

If you're willing to put in the work, you will reap the benefits. I've enjoyed every minute I've worked here. Lots of flexibility and trust from management. Prove yourself early on and you'll be able to work independently. This company is growing rapidly, so there's plenty of opportunity for growth.

As far as culture goes, I can honestly say I love coming to work! Most people are polite and approachable, and willing to help however they can. There are frequent associate appreciation gestures (breakfasts, activities, etc). You definitely get what you put into it.

    Cons

Not everyone is always on the same page, so it's important to know what your priorities are so you're not led off-course by others.

    Pros

Freedom to make your own tickets for projects as you see fit.

    Cons

Little to know communication between engineers and management. Last minute surprise deadlines that need to be done yesterday. Complete lack of process. On and off code reviews when the senior devs aren't spreading themselves thin. Management has this idea that if there is a deadline then throwing double the engineers on it will complete it in half the time. I could go on and on.

    Advice to Management

Actually prep for reviews and give constructive criticism to better your team. Put higher standards on your senior staff.

    Pros

If you like stupidity and worthless political banter, then this is your place.

    Cons

Rushed implementations and fundamentally broken products are the primary reasons you have zero happy clients. The software is dated and unsuited to be hosted as a cloud offering. Management is completely worthless from a technical perspective, which is why nothing is implemented or designed correctly. Extreme amounts of funding are blown on half thought out initiatives that add zero value to the service offering.

On a personal level, team members constantly make fun of and berate clients. As a whole, the organization is extremely dishonest with clients. Frequent outages and problems with the software are always blamed on irrelevant alternative excuses other than the product itself is flawed.

Personnel that actually have talent have already left, what remains is an empty shell of individuals who have zero idea how the implementations actually work and are completely incapable of improving the service offering.

    Advice to Management

Fix your products instead of wasting millions on workarounds that don't actually address your issues.

    Pros

Only useful as a stepping stone. Not a place to grow.

    Cons

Super outdated technologies. Terrible leadership. People promoted well beyond there actual skills. Good boys club that if you arent in you mean nothing to them. Horrific communication. Have litterally been in meetings where they make fun of clients. They have no problem delivering vaporware or even flat out telling customers no. They cant keep talent. They pretend like they care about there customers and that couldnt be farther from the truth. There solutions are bug ridden and destroy any customer relations they may have. Its seriously comical how bad this place is.

    Advice to Management

    They don't listen. Wouldnt matter.

    Pros

You'll find good, effective and personable associates across the organization, particularly outside of the home office. Exciting, developing market where technology can have an impact.

    Cons

A systemic, corrosive environment marred by inherent mismanagement, starting at the very top.
    Things I won't miss;
    - Anything "Sync" related including Sync week or Sync 60 - poorly planned and excruciating exercises in force fed company propaganda
    - The regurgitation of private equity buzz words including "run rate" and "runway" which both exceeded 40 mentions during one Sync week (yup - we kept count)
    - Influx of mediocre ex-Cerner talent given outsized roles yet bulletproof when they don't deliver
    - Refusal to acknowledge serious product platform deficiencies and related investment /resources required to remain competitive.
    - Watching quality, well respected/well liked senior and middle managers driven out by one brutish senior exec
    - Cabinet leaders who fail miserably but are untouched due to their protected status
    - Never having to listen to a cabinet member use "awesome" "stinking great" or "learn, unlearn & relearn" again

    Advice to Management

Why bother, they keep their own counsel

    Pros

The only upside to working at Netsmart would be that there's always a chance that management's insatiable appetite for growth will lead to new opportunities for employees.

    Cons

Although the management team present themselves as what is best described as "shiny, happy people" - full of upbeat, positive, ambitious ideas - their attitude toward the people they employee can only be described as calloused. The recent change in ownership seems unlikely to change this.

    Advice to Management

Try staying focused a certain set of markets (and products), rather than getting distracted by every shiny object in your periphery. Start valuing your employees and treating them the way you say that you do.

I have been working at Netsmart full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Some managers are very good leaders and recognize individuals' needs and will make accommodations to set them up to succeed. The same can be said for the opposite however. The co-workers are very hard working. Servicing an area of the population that is in severe need.

    Cons

Lack of any kind of plan from anyone in leadership above middle management. Incentive plans changing on a quarterly basis, and very key people leaving. Technically inept company except for very few individuals and has a horrible knowledge silo, which makes it really hard for new employees. Also the software is about 10 years behind the capabilities of any other industry in terms of technology. Prepare to work with unhappy clients on a regular basis, many times for reasons outside of your control.

    Advice to Management

Make the serious changes the people who are leaving are recommend. Stick to a plan and stick to your word when it comes to your employees. Value individuals for the value they give your company, nothing lower, and good people will continue to want to work here solely because of the satisfaction of helping these people in need. But value your employees better and make clear decisions on what the long-term personal career path looks like from the start.

I worked at Netsmart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The culture is awesome. You will meet some amazing people, make friends and always have someone to go to when you need help. You will learn a lot about the industry which will help you prepare for future jobs.

    Cons

There is no guidance. The training program teaches you nothing and if you have questions the mentors will not take the time to answer you unless you are a valued associate. You will only be successful at this company if you are placed in a role where there is work. For the most part its luck of the draw and most of the time you will be given petty work or sitting on your butt pretending your trying to find something to do. When there is no work, you will get in trouble for not finding work. It is all a cluster.

Management does not treat all associates fairly and consulting is losing people monthly. They cannot keep enough knowledge in the place to help bring the next people to speed to be successful.
I left the company super disappointed. I wanted to learn the company and earn a future with the company but quit based on the fact that I was scared for my job everyday and after the time I spent there I did not feel like I accomplished anything.

    Advice to Management

Changed the training program. To not waste time training on things the associate will never take part in. Teach the business and give everyone the same opportunity to be successful.
