I have been working at NewLink Genetics full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Lots of great opportunities. An open door policy with managers and exec team. Lots of great co-workers all working together towards the same goal. Great benefits.

    Cons

Some downsizing over the years, but that will happen in the biotech world.

    Advice to Management

    Keep that transparency.

    Pros

If you're willing to be a team player and be agile, this is a great place to gain the kind of experience you just couldn't in a larger company. Always interesting and exciting.

    Cons

The volatility of the broader biotech world has affected NewLink too, but I believe the company has always done what it can to support its employees, even during downsizing.

I worked at NewLink Genetics full-time

    Pros

Great work, great people, and fair pay.

    Cons

The pharma industry is volatile so being located in Iowa makes it difficult to set roots.

I have been working at NewLink Genetics full-time

    Pros

HR (Maggi, Ronee, etc) is amazing, great co-workers, and great benefits.

It is a fast paced environment with amazing, caring, and passionate management. I saw some comments about upper management not being available, but they are traveling on behalf of the company (investor meetings, healthcare conferences, etc etc etc) a majority of the time. When they are in the office they always have an open door policy.

My coworkers are all wonderful, kind, and talented. Everyone pushes themselves to be the best they can be for a company who gives so much back. This company has never lost sight of its main goal: helping people.

    WE ARE RELENTLESS!

    Cons

I have been a part of the NewLink team for several years now and I still don't have anything negative to say.

    Pros

You can easily talk with the CEO and President. They try to take care of the employees with free lunch and stock options. They have a nice facility and good location next to ISU.

    Cons

They want to hire all of management's family. They don't get rid of poor performers. HR dept is very old school and not adaptable to change but Maggi is the best in HR and truly cares about the employees.
