Great Company and Effective Leadership
Jan 23, 2023 - DR/BC Coordinator in Centennial, CORecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
OTS has been a positive company to work for. Leadership has been transparent and effective in its decision-making. Team members are diverse, kind, professional, and helpful. The ability to work remotely twice per week is a nice bonus. The breakroom is always stocked with drinks and snacks for when you need a pick me up.
Cons
Overall, the company has followed through on its promises and mission.

Good.. moving towards Great!
Oct 28, 2022 - Anonymous Employee in Denver, CORecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Overall OTS is a good place to work. I have been with the company for several years, and thus far I like the company more and more each year. Lately the company is making a push to improve company culture, which in my opinion had been severely lacking. I don't love my job, but I have no plans to leave anytime soon. - Great work life balance (Never been asked to work much beyond 40 hours/week). - Leadership/Management makes an honest effort to address and improve employee concerns and feedback. - Very supportive of training opportunities and will pay for certifications. - Acceptable benefits.
Cons
- Smaller company so Career Opportunities are limited. - If you live near Denver, you are expected to be on-site at least 3 days/week. - Everything feels like it's a #1 priority, and project priorities seem to shift day by day. - High employee turnover (similar to most places I'm sure, but still a bummer). - Lack of standardization (Multiple chat tools used by different groups/teams, Multiple project planning tools, Documentation practices vary based on the manager, etc.)

Your suggestions are valuable and areas where we are actively working to improve. As far as our team member turnover goes, it was 29% in 2019 and is projected to be 19% this year, which is a significant number showcasing the work we're doing to keep good talent around. Thank you for your continued growth and for being part of our team!

Transparent Management and a growing Organization
Dec 16, 2022 - Business Continuity in Centennial, CORecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Leadership at OTS has been and continues to be transparent. Steve Giddens, the CEO, has an open-door policy and offers concise, honest, and thoughtful dialog to any question(s) you may have. Remote work is supported though it may vary depending on your role. The office space is modern, clean, and welcoming. Leadership encourages and supports continuous improvement and supports the whole team member. The kitchen is always stocked with snacks and drinks for the team members. Dogs are welcomed into the office twice per week. Overall, the team members and leadership at OTS are best-in-class professionals, friendly, have positive attitudes, and are willing to help when asked.
Cons
The only downside during my time at OTS is a longer commute (my problem, not theirs).

New leadership is rising to the occasion!
Jul 28, 2022 - EngineerRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I have been with OTS for several years. I have always considered it to be a good company with good senior leadership. There are several new leaders and the culture of the organization has really been impacted--in a most positive way. There is a elevated sense of urgency to get things done coupled with an elevated devotion to work/life balance. The new CEO has added maternity and parental bonding leave as well introduced several new ways to have meaning dialogues with him. There is not an ounce of pretentiousness! The new security leadership is also several notches of where it has been historically. There is a sincere caring overtone that is so refreshing. The new HR person is intent on having all leaders treat their employees with respect as well providing a map for growing in OTS; he's also pretty fun to be around. We now have dog days in the office as well!
Cons
Not sure that all the middle management people have caught onto the new culture. Hopefully, they do so or the leave. It is only 1 or 2 that need to "elevate." I'd also like to some bigger office space as we have outgrown our current facility and it is also dreary. They are talking about moving to nice, larger offices. Hopefully, that does happen.

Thank you for sharing this great feedback. I want to make sure we act on it. Please reach out to me, Gary Held, at gheld@open-techs.com and let me know which departments are not communicating as well as they should be. I would also like to understand the pieces of equipment we are not moving quickly enough and how much sooner we should order. If you have any specific examples to provide, that would be great as well. Thank you!

Amazing Company
Nov 22, 2022 - Network Engineer in Baltimore, MDRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
This company really works to make the employee happy. The core work ethic is very good and balanced between work and family. The comany uses Bonusly which encourages colleague positive re-inforcement to keep us all productive. There is also ample opportunities to cross train into the many facetted areas that involve networking. Open Technology Solutions is constantly collaborating on how to make our services and products better, staying on the cutting edge.
Cons
May not be a place for those who are willing to just get by. Not a whole lot of negatives with this company.

Company with an interesting future
Oct 28, 2022 - Software DeveloperRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The company has been implementing many changes across the board. In particular, the push in changing some parts of the culture has been positive for the work environment. The teams seem to work well together.
Cons
There is always room for improvement, and it seems the company could do much better. Maybe the on-going changes will make it happen: That includes making better planning and enhancing teamwork.

Company where you want to stay
Oct 28, 2022 - Software Quality Assurance Engineer in Centennial, CORecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- Company management cares about you, your voice can be heard - Corporate culture is improving every month - Flexibility (despite the fact that everyone should show up in the office sometimes, you can choose days that are comfortable for you) - human treatment - Varied and interesting projects
Cons
- As it's a growing consortium with many partners, sometimes the organization of the process is not always smooth, but this is only room for improving your skills - not 100% remote. I know that for some people it's a cons. But I enjoy going to the office and meeting really good people.

Thank you for taking time out of your day to write this review! We appreciate your feedback, as we are constantly looking for ways to improve OTS. We conducted a comprehensive survey of our salaries in July 2022 and determined we are, on average, between the 65th and 75th percentile of salaries for comparable jobs, which increased from the 55th percentile in 2020. Our company has not undergone any rounds of layoffs in its 22-year history; something that other tech companies have seen in both 2022 and 2023, resulting in more than 150,000 layoffs. Additionally, we do have a 10% of annual salary year-end bonus for all Team Members. We have achieved or exceeded this bonus for 11 consecutive years in a row. In fact, we just announced that our annual performance scorecard bonus for 2022 will pay out at 115.34% in February of 2023. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me, gheld@open-techs.com, if you have any additional comments or questions.
