I worked at Orkin full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits for self (not for families). Retirement plan, and other employee benefits

    Cons

Family benefits very expensive. Schedulers not very good at arranging jobs in a logicial order. I spent over half the day driving from one end of the bay area to the other end and I lived in Sacramento.

    Advice to Management

Train your schedulers to plan better so that work can be done more timely and efficiently.

I have been working at Orkin full-time

    Pros

    Good pay. Good benefits.

    Cons

This branch used to be a great team environment. It has become a very impersonal place to work. They press on showing the value of our work, yet fail to Express the value of employee morale. Everyone in the branch is treated as replaceable. When employees are leaving to lower paying jobs, it shows the employees are looking for value.

    Advice to Management

Trust employees. Talk to them. Listen to ideas. Don't feed into gossip.

    Pros

Excellent training, great base pay with monthly bonus opportunity. Commercial business retention 98% with many add-on opportunities, due to their vast array of services and products.

    Cons

It would be nice to be able to tape into some of the 98% retention, by allowing some reoccurring revenue.

    Advice to Management

Your doing a great JOB! By far the best job i have ever had!! Promote stock purchase in 401K, if you can?

    Pros

Great pay, competitive atmosphere, nice people. Definitely builds sales experience

    Cons

Tier system was hard. It was hard to get to the good calls if you don't sell well coming straight out of training...and it's hard to get out of tier 3

I worked at Orkin full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

History, Training provided, Opportunity for advancement

    Cons

Interview process with local management. Especially in Chicago. Took over a month to finally connect, and then after the interview, I never heard back. Not even a thanks, but no thanks. Crickets....

    Advice to Management

The senior team, keep it up! Regionally, management needs to improve on theexecution, followup, and just plain ol' simple....communication! The phone interview was good, and the right questions were answered, but her too, never called back after the interview.

I have been working at Orkin full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Orkin is a friendly workplace where you get to meet all kinds of people. You never experience monotony and there is always more to learn. You can increase your pay check by simply bringing up the other services we offer to your customers and generate sales. You have the option to take the truck home with you so you don’t have to put miles on your own vehicle and you get a company cell phone. Advancement opportunities are available if you work hard to pursue them.

Orkin is a place you can make a carreer out of.

They match 100% for the first 3% of contributions to 401k and 50% for the next 3%.

Vacation time is plentiful and quickly given out.

Sign up for insurance as soon as day one.

    Cons

    Expensive insurance.
    Unpredictable hours.
    Odd payment system.

Not a job for the lazy or the non-motivated.

    Only 5 paid holidays.

Only 3 (personal time off) days.

Calling in greatly inconvenience everyone so you really have to determine what is an emergency.

    Advice to Management

Be more willing to help the customers.
