The pay is excellent and bonuses are great. Regional management challenges you in a healthy way to encourage not only that the branch is successful but you as an individual.

You're day is always in flux and you'll never be able to know when you're getting home The hours wax and wane, Summer April-October days are 9.5-12+ hours long and usually 6+ hours on Saturdays, Winter you'll hit 35-45 hours a week

Orkin is a great place to work. The management team at this particular location truly cares about their team and their customers. Opportunity to make as much money as possible is there.

Micromanaging can be a bit much during the slower months. Work-life balance can be difficult during the busy months. Very cut throat

Eight branch managers in 10 years. They tricked everyone after the initial March 15 Covid shutdown and made everyone sign a non-compete remotely. Most everyone I worked with don't remember that it happened, I don't neither, but a few other co-workers said it happened but orkin never gave anybody copies of what we might have signed. Very greedy Godless place.

No experience needed. They’ll train you well and provide tools needed for success. Company car is a huge plus

Poor quality on the work you sell. If the jobs go poorly, the customer might not pay and you won’t get paid

Good benefits. Management is decent and friendly. You'll never be short on work. Starting pay is about 17 hourly in Jax FL. After training and licencing you can move to production pay which is basically a commission. About 17% of each home you service. Pay checks are decent. Weekends off. Day shift. All positives.

Understaffed. High turnover rate. Those 2 factors lead to upset clients and somewhat disorganized management or operations, scheduling etc. Also results in staff having to pick up the slack of others who quit or left the company. Some work days are short but some can be very long.

Seriously, the primary benefit is the salary. If you are on the production system, you can make a lot of money. Sometimes even more than management. My final year in Orkin I made about 70k.

Cons

Your route determines your pay. So if you are in an area without much work, you have to hustle and pick up services in unfamiliar areas to make those ends meet. Some days can be super long hours as well.

The company provides great training opportunities for employees. Compensation is competitive with nice benefit packages.

When branches closed or their structure changed it was a less desirable working environment.

Current system is designed to make that pro nearly impossible. You cannot put profit ahead of your people and expect to succeed. Many training programs are bandaids to staunch bleeding on ambiguous practices. Branch level managers are routinely handed the keys to the castle prior to completion of training and are left holding a large ring of keys trying to find the locks they fit. The award winning training looks great on paper. Unfortunately, there is no librarian or dewy decimal system to navigate properly.
