I worked at Partsmaster full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Partsmaster is a wonderful place to work. I have never felt more like a family within a company, ever. Everyone helps you out and treats you with the up-most respect. The culture is established- everyone has been there 20 + years and the the work life balance is great. They truly understand that family comes first and really make a point to get to know you. The CEO is smart and involved and it was a pleasure to work for someone that cares so much. I left for personal reasons, but would go back in a heart beat. The sales force is made up of tenured reps that have been there for 10, 15, plus years. The best thing is that there is room for growth and they definitely like to promote from within! They treat their employees right, benefits are great, and you'll make friends for life!

    Cons

There are really no cons honestly. You're given your tasks and you set goals with your manager.

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

Mostly great products but very pricey.

    Cons

CEO who couldn't care less about his employees. Mass hiring going on in hopes of finding some business. Poor IT department way behind the times. No good managers - just people pushing continually for more sales. Non-existent marketing. No health care if you don't write enough business. No expense reimbursement.

    Advice to Management

Get back to basics and value the people who work for you.

    Pros

Generous samples of product, products usually match up with marketing materials description and promises, great customer service

    Cons

Requires a lot on a sales rep's part: car and upkeep, lots of tech, laptop, ipad, et cetera.

    Advice to Management

Buy every rep an ipad mini and a gas card.

I have been working at Partsmaster full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Excellent products. You will NOT find better quality elsewhere.

Training is ongoing. It never ends, just gets better as your skill set gets better.

NO pain in the butt sales reports. There is some minor activity reporting when you start, but that disappears in a short time.

Find a large account and it remains yours...no "house accounts"

Management values salesreps HIGHLY and without exception are very personable. You can talk with anyone at this company like your neighbor.

Company is not afraid to spend money where it's appropriate.

    Corporate customer service is excellent.

Advancement into management is primarily performance driven.

    Cons

You have to work your butt off to start, building a customer base.
Rather than company car, you get mileage reimbursement
Technology is middle of the road at best, however most of the customers are not tech savvy so it's usually not an issue.

    Advice to Management

Provide all the reps with an I-pad mini.
Revamp the special orders department to be more market competitive.
