Pros

Free lunch, ping pong, free cursor plan

Cons

Paystand is an exploitative company that takes advantage of young workers, particularly interns. Interns are officially paid for 30 hours per week, but there is strong pressure to work beyond those hours — including nights and weekends — without additional compensation or benefits. Interns are frequently told there is a path to full-time employment, but during a company offsite leadership stated that there were no plans to convert engineering interns in the United States to full-time roles. I personally know multiple interns who worked here for 9+ months with no concrete plan or timeline for conversion. The model appears to be rinse-and-repeat. Compensation for full-time employees is also well below market, especially relative to Bay Area standards. Junior employees could realistically earn more in hourly at restaurant jobs. The pay is extremely uncompetitive and demoralizing. The Product team lacks technical understanding of how software is built, which creates constant friction between them and Engineering. I have personally witnessed senior leadership speak aggressively and unprofessionally — including yelling and cursing — toward interns and juniors. Upper management presents the company as far more successful than it actually is. In reality, Paystand appears stagnant and has made little progress over the past several years. This is not a place to grow your career — it’s a temporary stop at best. If zero stars were an option, that would be my rating.

Pros

The team is great if you exclude C suite. People who care and try to make the product fit and give customers a good experience

Cons

C suite is a complete joke. CEO, CSO, & CRO may be some of the worst leaders in the industry. Team hits record numbers and they do rounds of layoffs. Product fits a certain niche but this company will not succeed until leadership changes. Management level people are great as well as the IC. but most of the team knows that the company is stuck where it is. I would not recommend Paystand as a place to grow your career unless you want to stay complacent in a role with little growth.
