I worked at Pollo Tropical full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Never one hour of boredom. While working at Pollo Tropical you will interact with many personalities both customers and team members. All of which you will connect on a regular basis and will become like family/friends. You will grow as a person may it be work ethic, communication, team work, time management, and fast paced thinking. You will be put into the action and you will learn skills quickly. Work hard and you will be a master in customer service, food safety, food service, speed, multitasking, problem solving, and most importantly how you react to extreme pressure. You will come in clueless and come out educated. Educated in work ethic, educated in social awareness of those who live in your community, and educated in the value of working hard for a dollar.

    Cons

Life Balance. Not a good place for life to work balance if you work full time or as a team leader, assistant manager, or general manager you will be working a lot. If you work full time you will get two days off a week but most likely those day offs will be randomly chosen each week making it difficult to plan life events around. However you may request days off in advance which they will keep their word to a T. Just be prepared to work hard and plan your days off if you want some sort of social life.

    Advice to Management

Advice to Management would be first to spend the time to train your staff well in order to meet the demand and pressures of high volume capacity and hours. Second would be to hire enough workers to share the load when you have large influxes in customers. Do these two things you will create a better working environment for your team and you customers alike.

I have been working at Pollo Tropical part-time

    Pros

Friendly managers, good working experience, flexible hours

    Cons

They try to get one employee to do the work of two people frequently. Several co-workers have complained about the place being under-staffed, so we are often doing the work of 1.5 to 2 people to make up for this. For example, I have worked as a cashier, a server, and preparing meals all at the same time, with help of course. I've seen quite a few people quit already because of this and I've only worked here for 4 months.

    Advice to Management

Hire more people. Listen to the legitimate complaints of the responsible workers.

I worked at Pollo Tropical part-time

Poor opportunities for advancement; too much work for too little pay; having to do things outside of your job description; too many company issues that led to shutdown of stores in North Texas

I worked at Pollo Tropical full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pros are great destinations if GM 2x a year other than that it's a waste No appreciation to GMs. Accountability is preached but not followed thru from above.

    Cons

DM's and above Management don't care about You! As long as doors open, it's normal biz. GM's are underpaid with amount of hours worked! Not worth the Pay, and bonus structures get harder to get. Don't believe "quality of life" company. Not True! Maybe for Upper management.

    Advice to Management

This company is a joke! Went 8 months without a CEO! Gave free reign to All RMs and kin. HR IS A JOKE! worried about being sued for anything. You would think with a multi-million dollar company they would have better HR representatives. Always side with employee! DONT WORK FOR POLLO TROPICAL! YOU WILL LOSE FAMILY TIME! Irony: THATS WHAT THEY PREACH. CORAZON. LOL.
