    Cons

    I worked at RCN full-time

    Pros

The people I worked with were all enthusiastic about their jobs and making sure the information about RCN was communicated clearly and effectively

    Cons

The building I worked in leaked, was often too cold and too hot

I worked at RCN full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Able to make and plan your own schedule.

MetroCard and Phone Bill reimbursed monthly

    Cons

Management cycles through 3-5 new reps every year to try to salvage tenured reps' throwaway/unworkable accounts.

Manager personally assigns all new (money-making) opportunities, and is allowed full favoritism to the reps he has worked with for 10-15 years (which is about 80% of the floor)

Will blatantly lie about earning potential and territory opportunity... Then bank on new hires to stay anyway and do triple the work for a third of the pay.

Supv's and manager don't like each other and take turns throwing each other under the bus. No accountability for mistakes/misinformation.

In short, you will spend most of your time sticking flyers on doors in NYC housing projects, and calling ice-cold leads to MAYBE make $50K... While everyone around you will be relaxing in the office on their way to double, triple or quadruple the commissions.

    Advice to Management

Be honest about the position you are hiring for. It is nowhere near the position that is advertised.

I have been working at RCN full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pay is good. People are nice. You get mileage reimbursement. You get RCN services for a very discounted price. You got everything you need when you're out in the field

    Cons

Quota is too high. The ones who get the most Praise are the ones who call in orders everyday. Pointless to drive all the way to the office just to check in and then drive to your turf. Not much demand for RCN products when there's other products that are more affordable. You're left with the fear and stress each day of losing your job if you don't hit quota.

    Advice to Management

Remove the high quota understand that there's just going to be days if not weeks where people are not interested in the products. Have a more competitive pricing plan than the competitors

I have been working at RCN full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Company is great (at lease at my site), management is good and actually knows their employees by name, pay is good and commission can be great, great benefits.

    Cons

Dealing with the general public is exhausting, you can't end a call on a customer no matter how insulting they are, call volume is either dead or extremely busy.
