Not a positive place to work

Pros

Some very hard working and dedicated employees, but the hard work and contributions are rarely acknowledged. Most of the people that work there are great and highly educated and most come in thinking this is the position for their career, but internal promotions almost never happen and if you upset a senior team member, any one of them, you're history.

Cons

Extreme toxic environment where you are told the company is a big "family", but then they routinely will fire someone with no warning and not send out any notice when they are gone. In my family, if someone just stopped showing up one day, I'd really like to know about it.

Pros

Reasonable hours, no health insurance premiums, monthly catered lunch

Cons

I've never felt so infantilized before in a workplace. Expectations include sitting at your desk with nothing to do and waiting for hours on end for a menial assignment from senior management. Independent work does not exist. Visibility is more highly valued than efficiency and information is heavily siloed between groups. I was actively discouraged by my manager from making suggestions or forming professional connections with employees on other teams. More than 20 employees left in 2024, and in the past three weeks both the CFO and General Counsel have resigned.

Pros

compensation and benefits are great, that's about it

Cons

CEO Leslie Hale is not qualified to be CEO. Two years ago, RLJ perform a culture survey and assessment and 9/10 employees did NOT approve of Hale. Certain members of Senior Management are low performers and their subordinates are better than them. The top performers leave RLJ within a couple of years because their contributions are not appreciated and they realize they are better than their bosses. RLJ is a revolving door of employees.
