I worked at Riverview Health full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The workload was Very manageable and different each day which means it was never boring.
Decent pay - they were very fair with the hourly rate.
Friendly staff - you feel as if you are family.
    Great doctors

    Cons

For me the biggest con was that it was forty five minutes from my home in good weather and longer during snow or rain. The traffic was usually awful but seems a bit friendlier now that construction is done. As with most places of employment you received a merit based increase which was typically about 3%.

Small town feel, you get to know the patients, flexible hours if you need them- I was in school full time

    Cons

Be aware of your coworkers and maintain professionalism. There aren't many consequences for breaking the rules which can be frustrating when people are repeat offenders

    Advice to Management

Clear out those who do not want to work or do not care about what they are doing.

I worked at Riverview Health full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Community focus; staff works well together; physicians are great for the most part; excellent facilities

    Cons

Senior leadership seemed bound and determined to thwart innovation and initiative. For a small organization that touts its "flat" organization chart....the chart may be flat but it is a mile wide and there is still a path to take. Financial issues have hit the organization in recent years. They seem to be trying to change, but it may be too late. I'm really not sure why they haven't joined with Community at this point.

    Advice to Management

Get out of people's way. Stop protecting marginal employees because you've lost most of the good ones, particularly in the manager/director level.
