Pros

Great salary, especially fresh out of college. Awesome benefits. Regular cookouts/catering, company events. It's a small company that tries. Great learning experience, pushes you to learn new things and push for Enterprise Certications.

Cons

Favoritism. Lots of fraternization. It's typical for a small company. I really can't say too many cons because it is a company that will feel like home. The bad side of that is, it'll feel like home. The pay is not up to date with the experience and qualifications they want. I say it's a great company to work for and move on when you're in your prime.

Pros

In all fairness, I'm writing this review in response to an earlier review I disagree with. I'll attempt to stay professional and concise. Safe systems is like many things in life, you get out what you put in. If you work hard and learn our products and the technologies we work with you will do well. That includes taking the time to study for certs and not just dumping them for a piece of paper. The company pays for certs and offers nice bonuses for passing milestones. They literally pay you money to improve yourself and your career. The culture is pretty relaxed. There is a good mix of people from different walks of life. Some are more traditional IT guys, and some are not. PTO is plentiful, and I usually accrue a few extra comp days a month. Usually there isn't any pressure to come in early or stay late. I say usually, because after you have worked here for a while, you begin to build a rapport with many our clients and feel motivated and responsible to solve their issues. The pressure doesn't come from management. To a certain extent, after you've been there for a while you can work as much or as little as you want. You're never going to get promoted doing the bare minimum though. The pay is pretty good as well. Entry level salary is extremely competitive. While mid level salaries may lag a tad, the benefits package is very impressive compared to other places I have worked. Safe also periodically does "stress reliefs" to help the engineering team interact with the sales and management teams. At Safe you touch many different vendors and technologies which can really help round you out as an engineer, especially early in your career. We do virtualization, networking, security, compliance, infrastructure, and server/desktop support. Even if you career isn't at Safe, the experience you get can make you very desirable to future employers. If you are proactive (key word) there are opportunities to get involved with projects outside your department. And many people move from the engineering team to sales, management, R&D etc...

Cons

There can be limited upward opportunities in your department depending on where you are. Some people change departments out of necessity. Mid level salaries have risen in the past few years, but they still are lagging a tad behind the average. Year end bonuses can leave a bit to be desired. Some of my friends work for competing IT firms, and I choose to avoid the subject around December. People in corporate always get first dibs on any food that comes in.

Pros

-Good pay for people right out of college. -Peers are cool if you're knowledgeable of all things nerdy. -Opportunities to get certifications that are paid for.

Cons

-Preface to cons: It might seem like I'm bitter at this company, and I was, but looking back I have had huge success after leaving; your next job will be worth all the silly management hoops you jumped through. -If you didn't go to GSU, (that's southern not state) you will not have any opportunities unless you suck up to management or have a certification they couldn't obtain themselves. -NOC management is basically a few guys walking around trying to justify their job. (They don't do any "work" other than laugh behind closed doors for 3-4 hours a day). -If you EVER say anything negative about management, it will fall on deaf ears. (HR basically non-existent(out-sourced to Insperity)). -There is undeniably a ceiling to this company: the people that are higher up in the chain have been there for years and are comfortable. -Everyone outside of the Support team is not required to keep a time sheet, while their managers sit back relaxing. -Even if you go out of your way for the company, believe me that they will not do the same for you.
