I worked at ScreenRoot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I joined Screenroot at a very early stage in my career. People here were very helpful in terms of guiding me in right direction, nurturing, providing enough support while working on projects. This really helped me grow as a UX designer.
They have pretty set processes when it comes to executing projects. You'll be working for some well know Indian as well as International clients.
I didn't encounter any office politics. In case you have an issue then it's easy to approach anyone in the hierarchy and sort it out.
Quality is of utmost importance, you need to be on your toes to fulfill this. In a way this makes you challenge yourself, and in turn grow in the field you're working in.

    Cons

-Need to show their presence on a larger stage. Increase visibility by improving their website and showcasing the quality work they do which is at par or better than any known interaction design agency in India.

-If you're moving here from an MNC or a large company, you might find it bit hectic. You cant stroll in at 11am and leave at 6pm.

    Pros

If you are serious about work and want to get involved with interaction design, ScreenRoot is the perfect place to be. With a mix of the biggest national and international clients, the exposure to top notch projects that have a real and visible business impact assures tremendous learning at all times. A tight-knit team also means that you learn more than just what is defined in your job role. In addition, you also get to interact with senior leadership at the client's end which makes for rich and fruitful engagements. The culture of the whole organisation is steeped in transparency and merit, there is no one you cannot approach for help or advice at any time. And all ideas are discussed and debated openly on the table, no matter who you are in the team.

It truly is a great bunch of people doing some amazing work. I can safely say you will not regret the decision to join given the opportunity.

    Cons

Based in Goa, for some this might become a departure from a big city or metro. But there are enough and more things to do at work to keep you busy and on your toes.

I worked at ScreenRoot full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - If you want to actually learn UI/UX the right way, this is the place for you. I've seen tons of designers who work in large product companies who can't do half as much as people here.
    - The company culture is no nonsense. No politics. No hierarchical culture. If you have a problem, there's no need to be diplomatic about it.
    - They have a great bunch of well known clients which looks good on your portfolio
    - This is an entrepreneural organisation. If you want to take on more responsibly, ask and it shall be given.

    Cons

    - The company for whatever reason is not very well known in India as compared to other organisations

    Advice to Management

    - Try to put some effort behind getting noticed in the industry

    Pros

    - Good team with a mix of junior and experienced people.
    - Large and challenging projects. Work with some of the biggest brands in India
    - High quality oriented. If you don't challenge your own skills definitely this is not the place for you.
    - Opportunities will come your way anytime. It's up to you to take it up or not.
    - Good guidance to junior employees.

    Cons

    - Don't apply if you are looking for a 9-5 job. Here just quality matters.

    Advice to Management

    - Be more social

    Pros

I get to work on good mix of interesting projects.
Designers have lot of opportunities to grow.
There are many talented designers around me from whom I learn a lot.
Open transparent culture. I can talk freely to my seniors and anyone in top management.

    Cons

Less known compared to other interaction design agencies in India.

    Pros

If you are motivated by money and large profit bonuses , this is the place for you. Put in the effort, put in the time and you will see the rewards (at the end of the year though). They work on interesting projects, however timelines are extremely tight with little regard for personal well being. If you can power through and put in 60-80 hours a week, you will see those handsome bonuses.

    Cons

If you are NOT motivated by money, it can be difficult to achieve that work/life/motivation balance. Even management agrees that this is NOT a 9-5 type place. They are driven by profit margins and everyone works towards that.

    Advice to Management

Invest in and care about your employees, don't just say "this is the way things are" you are either in or out.

I have been working at ScreenRoot full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Living in a exotic local with interesting and challenging work

    Cons

It's not competitive at an international level. The culture difference in coming from outside India to living inside are untenable and the expectation that you sacrifice and bear all risk with zero shared from them lead to an utter lack of faith in moving forward.

    Advice to Management

You say you want to help change India's perception from being a land of cheap labor to a place where ingenuity is celebrated. Next time you pursue an international hire step onto the international stage and provide faith and confidence in those you're seeking to hire. Signal that the future is good and that you're competent and aware of the international stage. You came across entirely as insular and unaware of your competition and the broader/global labor markets.

Broader note: Being that change might encourage some of the best and brightest from your own diaspora to actually move back and build what could be the worlds greatest economy. Don't be part of a broken system. Propel change and accelerate the future.
