    Pros

You'll likely work on interesting problems and the interview process is designed so that smart people get hired as engineers.

    Cons

Lots of politics especially from old timers, poor teamwork and management. The existing framework of management has too much power in the company and likes to keep its power.

    Advice to Management

    Allow engineers to review managers.

I worked at Simba Technologies full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Some of the best people I've ever worked with - smart, driven, accomplished, and a company run by someone who actually understands our technology and the problems that are inherent in developing for it.

    Cons

A lot of micromanagement. There were times that it took a few hours to do the end of week status reports

    Advice to Management

It's good to be metric driven and objective metrics, but reduce the paperwork associated with it. Losing 5% of the week to paperwork is a bit overkill.

I have been working at Simba Technologies full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Friendly atmosphere and coworkers are very helpful. Great place to learn and get your career started if you're a new grad. You'll get to experience the full development cycle and they also offer a C++ course every 4 months when new co-ops start.

    Cons

Everything has been going downhill since Magnitude has bought the company. All the key people who made Simba successful have resigned. They've never paid a bonus and they cut our budget for social activities. We also barely missed the profit goal for the year and because of it they delayed our salary reviews and froze all expenses for 4 months to make the investors happy. Salaries are already low to begin with and the benefits are some of the worst in Vancouver. They don't even provide MSP.

    Advice to Management

Make the salaries and benefits competitive and start caring about your employees, not just the investors.
