    Pros

You'll likely work on interesting problems and the interview process is designed so that smart people get hired as engineers.

    Cons

Lots of politics especially from old timers, poor teamwork and management. The existing framework of management has too much power in the company and likes to keep its power.

    Advice to Management

    Allow engineers to review managers.

I have been working at Simba Technologies full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Friendly atmosphere and coworkers are very helpful. Great place to learn and get your career started if you're a new grad. You'll get to experience the full development cycle and they also offer a C++ course every 4 months when new co-ops start.

    Cons

Everything has been going downhill since Magnitude has bought the company. All the key people who made Simba successful have resigned. They've never paid a bonus and they cut our budget for social activities. We also barely missed the profit goal for the year and because of it they delayed our salary reviews and froze all expenses for 4 months to make the investors happy. Salaries are already low to begin with and the benefits are some of the worst in Vancouver. They don't even provide MSP.

    Advice to Management

Make the salaries and benefits competitive and start caring about your employees, not just the investors.

I have been working at Simba Technologies full-time

    Pros

Company based in Vancouver with a very good growth until recently.
Good for junior developers to start a career.
Able to participe to very interesting object oriented design and development.
    Very nice and competent people.
Has given a chance to long time junior employee to move to management position.

    Cons

Success driven by previous CEO that just sold and left the company. Many key people leaving resulting in a loss of expertise.
Very uncertain future with Magnitude Software. Work moving more and more from interesting development to maintenance work. Growth seems to have stalled.

    Pros

Lots of talented developers when I was there. Made a couple of good friends. This is a fine place to get your career started but not ideal for senior engineers or people looking for something more long term (unless you're really keen on database drivers).

    Cons

High turnover, especially among staff immediately reporting to CEO (marketing, sales, finance). Relatively low salaries and bare minimum vacation. Management structure volatile at times.

    Pros

Nice people. Not so much egos like other place. Big demand for our product.

    Cons

Magnitude not sure what to do with our product. Never pays bonus so is like everyone get pay cut. Best people and best managers leave.

    Advice to Management

Vancouver is hot market for devs, so make salary competitive if you want good people.

    Cons

Everything goes straight down to horrible zone when Magnitude Software Acquires Simba. Talent people are leaving, people are losing faith to the company, all process either on hold or stop.

    Advice to Management

dont let things out of control
