    I worked at SmartFocus full-time

    Pros

Good Technology and there are (or were) some great people.

    Cons

Where to start... This is a UK based company that doesn't know where to go or how to compete. They are convinced that their competitors are Salesforce and Adobe when the reality of it is they're not even on the radar. With zero marketing in the US no one has ever heard of Smartfocus which makes getting leads a challenge. The company doesn't invest in it's people and will straight up lie to it's employees on how well the company is doing.

    Advice to Management

If you are going to make a push for the US market you need to invest heavily. In a market where you competitors are in the hundreds you need to jump in the deep end and not tip in a toe. Identify what makes you stand apart and push those hard through a collaborative marketing effort. Don't build a UK company with a US presence, build a full US headquarters that works with a UK hq.

Get US case studies, no one in the US cares about UK companies. Focus on moving current customers to the cloud and have them speak to their success.

    Pros

Great place to work if like ridiculous deadlines, high pressure, and low morale. Company changes direction on a weekly basis. The sad thing is that the technology is pretty interesting but the lack of focus makes for an unstable platform and overworked support staff.

    Cons

The company refuses to invest in its people or its systems. I have never experienced an organization with a 50-70% turnover rate year after year. The people are depreciated faster than the equipment.

    Advice to Management

Stop build a company to sell and build a real company.

    Pros

Absolutely none. Couldn't leave this field blank.

    Cons

Yeah, so the majority of these negative reviews stem from the sales/marketing dept in the London office, but the dysfunctional, bullying culture that this company cultivates permeates into the development department as well. This place is a revolving door of developers. Even with a small team, management does not properly recognize those with actual skills and talent to help with the redesign and re-architecting of the franken-code. Priorities are not managed and urgency is non-existent. The bar is extemely low and the bullying and territorial culture does not promote collaboration or camaraderie. Those who have the smarts realize this is a sinking ship and find much greener pastures elsewhere.

    Pros

Blend of new technology that helps solve problems between the customer and ecommerce site

    Cons

Headquarters is based in the UK and also offices in France and Barcelona. This can cause delays in some operations.

    Advice to Management

No advice at this time. Very happy with the direction of the company and where it is heading.

    Pros

Smart people, work hard, good customers. Everyone trying hard but managers are not trained and don't know how to lead. The customers want the company to succeed, but the sales people only know how to sell the email.

    Cons

Executive management is new to the industry and keeps changing direction. Lack of consistent communication and CEO enjoys making offhanded insults at employee meetings.

    Advice to Management

Fix the product, train the managers and communicate a plan.

I have been working at SmartFocus full-time

    Pros

None, really. Except being a bit lenient on days off and working from home...

Also, the benefits are not bad. 401k and health. Previously, their bonuses/commissions were good but recently this has changed and they took forever to tell employees about the new plans.

    Cons

Management is terrible. Company is way too focused on sales. Clients are unhappy due to the lack of help from support and account managers are only focused on renewing clients - not keeping them happy.

Barely any real training for employees. The product is terrible and has many flaws that no one wants to fix because they only want to focus on new features.

    Advice to Management

Listen to customers and what they need. Provide better support and listen to employee suggestions. Needs to focus more on customer support and not only on sales.
