I worked at SmartSource full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Location was close to home allowing me to home at
Lunch. Learned some new software programs to add to my resume.

    Cons

Management was terribly inappropriate at a company outing - screamed sexual harassment. Allowed other managers to belittle their direct reports without consequence. There are a different set of rules for those employees that are well liked even if they are poor performers or cause poor morale.

    Pros

None to be said, they still owe me money. Myself and others have had to go to the U.S. Department of Labor to force them to pay.

    Cons

Extremely low idiotic pay. They literally expected us to drive 300+ miles one-way for a McDonald's disposal job, but don't want to pay mileage, hourly pay, gasoline, etc. They offered me their top pay of $35.00/site as a Senior Technician. Yes, you get $35 per site, not per hour which doesn't even cover gasoline. They want you to upload completed forms from McDonald's to their partners SharePoint site that isn't configured correctly. You can upload the forms and see them, but they couldn't see them because they had permissions set wrong. Then blamed us without even checking their own equipment/platforms, so that they could weasel out of paying. Having to go to the authorities to get paid.

    Advice to Management

Offer real competitive pay. Don't steal from employees. Listen to employees when they tell you there is a problem. Make sure all your Ps-and-Qs are in order. Be honest about your contracts and work you want done.

I worked at SmartSource part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Easy Contracts. Middling pay for the job. But there's not much else to say on the pro side at all.

    Cons

80% of the time, and I say this looking at my pay checks and counting, they get your pay wrong or don't pay at all. I just spent over a month arguing over a pay check and still don't have it. They seem to keep no records at all of what jobs you have previously done or what skills you have. The work is very occasional or with only a few hours notice, often when they have had a long time to recruit someone. Many of their staff members can't handle reading a PDF they have been sent and must be sent .doc. They're a technology firm that doesn't act or operate like one in any way and can't be bothered to pay on time or sometimes at all.

    Advice to Management

    Stop hiring your family members.

I have been working at SmartSource part-time

    Pros

Numerous short term contracts, some even partial days. Pay is reasonable. Job Site instructions are rarely flawed, when they are it tends to be the clients issue not Smartsource.

    Cons

Spotty communication at times. E-mail free for all to fill contracts (first to respond and the like.) Recruiters seem to not know when jobs conflict and will attempt to book you for conflicting sites.

    Advice to Management

Database where your contractors are working, keep on top of schedule changes at long term contracts, and let the employees know, and get a better benefit package even if you do not contribute much just so it is available to contractors.

I have been working at SmartSource part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Excellent flexibility as they offer you jobs and you choose whether to take the job or not. It's kind of like being in business for yourself, but not by yourself.

    Cons

The main drawback is it's not full-time pay and benefits, not even close. I could not survive on this alone. I have to find other things to supplement this quite small income.

    Advice to Management

Make sure the employees can survive on the jobs. Jobs are provided on a very limited amount for each employee. I'm sure that's because there are so many people needing the jobs.
