Pros

I have worked here for like a year and if I retrospect, I have learned a lot during that period. Here are some points that I find fall into pros: - Good learning opportunities (if you are in an initial phase of your career) - Good In-office environment - supportive tech leads

Cons

Well, first of all, many of the existing reviews having 5 or 4 stars might be forced reviews. At the time of leaving the company, when I asked for my experience letter, I was asked to rate Solulab with 5 stars on Google Maps and Glassdoor. When I said I would do that once I get some time (I was busy st that time). They said firstly I will have to rate 5 stars on both the platform and then I will get my letter. They also said if I have any issue with this approach I can contact Chintan (CEO). That is just very forceful and unethical (in my opinion). There are few downsides of working at Solulab that I have faced. - During COVID 19 pandemic, work from home strategy was applied at here, but this strategy has some irritating rules that employees and interns have to follow. - First rule is that you must use a software called "Toptal Tracker" to track their work. Let me tell you that this software is designed to track time of the period when you keep it on running. So, we have to keep that running all the time while working. So, what is irritative about that, huh? Well, this software takes screenshots of the screen every 10 minutes when it is running along with tracking time. So, you have to work continuously because if you get away from the system or sit ideal for 10 or more minutes the time resets. That is what used to irritate me and my colleagues. But also one would ask what is the problem in that. The problem is that employees are asked to work for 9 hours a day and this 9 hours should be measured in Toptal tracker. All in all, most of my colleagues and I find it most irritative. - Next negative point is that while working from home I felt that my work and my personal life was not getting a proper balance. On many days (for at least 25-30 days in period of 3 months), I was told to work late (even after completing more that 9 hours on toptal). To give you a brief, let's assume that I start my work at around 9:30 AM and took one hour break (official cumulative break time at solulab) only, and I complete 9:30 hours on toptal, that would mean that it is now 8 PM already and still I being told to work for more than 2-3 hours. That is why I feel that one may not get a proper personal time. And that is not it, my team and I was asked to work on 5-6 weekends (both days Saturday and Sunday) during the months of March, April and May 2020. I hope readers of my review are getting my point. - Next downside is the pressure of attendance. Yes, you read it right, Attendance. As an employee or an intern, you have to post daily update on "what you are doing" or "what you are going to do" or "what work have you completed in a day" in your project specific Skype group twice a day (10 AM and 5 PM). In case if you miss that, that would be counted as you were on leave that day. That's just not the way to make your employees or interns to work, right?
