      Pros

      Working with the people, mission to the community, resources, and benefits. Several of the Executive team live the mission and work to engage the workforce around them.

      Cons

      Executive team is has a few individuals that are not aligned with the mission and do not see engagement of their teams as important to their success and the success of the health system.

      Pros

      Sparrow is a great place to work! I appreciate the step system negotiated to allow for RNs coming in with experience to be paid as such. For RNs, it’s one of the top-paying places in mid-Michigan which is what I truly looked for when choosing an employer. Their shift differentials could be better and their across-the-board benefits could as well. Though, as an RN, I feel our benefits are perfect when considering the work we do every day. And thank god we have a union. Our union has a good relationship with administration but that doesn’t mean they roll over and let things happen. I feel protected every day and thankful to have their protection.

      Cons

      Lots of blame placing by higher ups. Managers given the ability to make exceptions for covid visitors and then allow 20 people up at once while the manager who made the decision leaves the hospital and doesn’t oversee the visit leaving staff feel unsafe and vulnerable after everything they’ve done to care for our community during the pandemic.

      There are some really great people who work here. Some of the best I’ve ever worked with.

      The pay sucks. There are racist people who work there who shouldn’t. They don’t care about your well-being.

      Pay is average and there are a variety of project types to get involved in.

      Cons

      - Lacks leadership - Marketing has not been defined and with the 2017 C suite there seems to be resistance to change outside of using an agency in Chicago to do their main branding. - Lots of turn-over in the department in general - No growth opportunities

      If you have a degree, but no real experience, you will get hired. Then you are free to cause as much damage and poorly implement any application you can get your hands on.. After all, you have a degree...

      If you do not have a degree, but have decades of real world experience at some of the biggest health systems in Michigan, Sparrow does not care and will never consider you for employment..

      Pros

      People who I worked with. Lots of opportunities due to high turnover and difficulty recruiting people to come work there.

      Cons

      No follow through with direction, better processes and change. Upper Leadership does not hold themselves or others accountable. A lot of smoke and mirrors. The culture of leadership is about their own advancement, recognition and career. 80% of Leadership is not interested in patient experience and outcomes. They are also not interested in making the work environment and culture better. This includes the CEO and System Board of Directors. No transparency only half truths if that.
