The front of house work is simple and self explanatory

The back of house job is simple, however, it can be easily messed up if the employee does not take their time or pay attention to detail. You are working with dairy and perishable products. Store them, refill them and date them all properly.

Pros

Not very busy on weekdays. Self-serve for customers so you either clean or stand at the cash register. Sometimes you cut up fruit in the back and replace toppings. The pay was $11 an hour which was fine for a high schooler part-time worker to have extra money. I did not get many hours in the week, I usually worked 3-4 days in a week, after school from 3-9:30 pm. But since there was not much rush on weekdays, we usually got time at work to do homework or during a 30-minute break.

Cons

Very boring if it is not a busy day. Cleaning at the end of the day takes a lot of time because you start 30-60 minutes before the store actually closes and sometimes customers will come in and out near the end. Most of the time we stayed 30 minutes overtime because cleaning takes so long since you have to keep the yogurt machines going for customers until 9 pm exactly, and it takes a while to clean them so it being the last thing to clean is not good.

Tasks are easy to learn and fairly simple. Most of my struggle in the beginning came from memorizing exactly all of the tasks that were required as an associate on top of learning to interact with customers.

Cons

Management was not the best at making sure new people knew everything they needed to know. They very much had the expectation that we should have to figure out most of the stuff on our own. If I hadn't already had a friend working there to train me I would have struggled even more than I did.

Pros

There is a lot of independence and experience you gain from working at TCBY.

Sometimes you have to manage the store on your own, which can be difficult if there are a lot of customers.
