Stable employment in low pressure environment

      Pros

Generous pay and benefits with flexible work hours, in relatively low pressure environment

      Cons

Over the past several years, environment has become less dynamic - increasingly difficult to change ineffective processes. Left-leaning political advocacy has become very pronounced among senior leadership, and expressions of dissent or even disagreement is not greeted warmly, to say the least

They talk a big game but news isn't a priority they're willing to pay for

Mar 1, 2021 - News Producer in Bend, OR

      Business Outlook

      Pros

I worked in Bend, which is an amazing place. The news department is well funded as far as equipment and opportunities. They sent a team to the super bowl, to the Oscars... so they are doing things differently and have attracted some great talent in front of the camera.

      Cons

For reporters, photographers...anyone who's behind the scenes, pay raises are hard to come by especially under new management. I was asked to take on the responsibilities for multiple jobs that were not the job I was hired for, eventually got a massive promotion but no raise to show for it despite multiple meetings with my direct supervisor.

Say goodbye to your home life

Jan 12, 2021 - Operations Support Technician in Middleton, WI
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

People focused and traditional, Have teams to that really want to work hard for the company, and plenty of challenging tasks to take on and learn.

      Cons

Lower than average wages, communication between managers and subsequently teams is lacking, if you are in one of the customer support roles, you will be pressured to take a working lunch or stay late to complete work. You could be juggling 10+ tasks at a time depending on the day. Documentation is poor and many of the departments are understaffed. Management listens to problems but does little or nothing to solve them and change is very slow, and usually at the expense of the front line worker's time and energy. There is also no way to move up within the company unless someone else retires or leaves.
