"Heaps of energy to deliver and awesome ideas, but can lack on the follow through"

    I worked at Tabcorp full-time

    Pros

Great intentions to drive flexible working environments, new leadership thinking and experimentation. Workplace culture is terrific and one of the best managers I've ever had. This is a gaming business and you can feel that by working there. They have done a good job of making work fun.

    Cons

Some of the great ideas are not followed through to actually deliver great ROI. Leadership team don't seem as aligned or as involved as I'm used to.

    Advice to Management

If you are going to create a genuine performance culture, you need to be able to have the hard chats and make the hard decisions on under performers. Sometimes your delightful culture (which genuinely is a joy to work in) gets in the way of being commercially focussed and that can be a shame for your A-players.

I have been working at Tabcorp full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Mostly nice colleagues
    Ok office location
Ok benefits - more should follow in near future

    Cons

    Un-professional management
Promotions given to people with no experience and no attention to details
Restructuring within 1 year of opening
Staff not appreciated for their efforts and hard work.
Managers un-interested in their staff and showing that that have no idea what their staff do on a daily basis

    Advice to Management

Hire managers who can actually do their jobs. Do your research properly before trying to set up a new business/site. Provide better training of staff and cross training between departments would be highly beneficial to everyone - especially your customers.

    I worked at Tabcorp full-time

    Pros

Great design team and office environment. Good learning opportunities as a designer to be exposed to a range of different platforms.

    Cons

Lacking in innovation. Bi-annual Hack Days never really resulted in any passion projects being built. No momentum from business to invest in things not in pipeline.

    Advice to Management

Create process in which employees may be able to pitch their own ideas to the business with full transparency. Get feedback about ideas.

I have been working at Tabcorp full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Flexible work place
    Generally reasonable ambiance
Fellow workers are generally OK to work with
    Adopting an agile philosophy
Some good work to be had at times

    Cons

Make sure you negotiate a good entry pay as pay rises can be small - whilst the IT workplace is adopting agile philosophies the management team are not - HR is useless
    Useless HR department and

    Advice to Management

It would be great to see the management and support services living by the sword they preach

I have been working at Tabcorp full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

trying its best to compete in the online gambling market. Good work life balance, but considering the fact that its attempting to compete in the gambling market, where competition is increasingly becoming corrosive, not sure if work life balance is something the company should worry about :)

    Cons

still has not been able to move away from the shackles of its past. Melbourne vs Sydney politics is the elephant in the room in most cases. Still grappling around, to find its footing in the technology space. Recruitment is hard given the companies image in the technology world.

    Advice to Management

Look before you leap. You are increasingly playing the space where technology matter. Look at building a good team, not just transactionally execute initiatives.
