I have been working at Tech Data full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Vary family-oriented and understanding of personal issues when they come up

    Cons

Some managers can "micro-manage" and there is a lot of work that takes you way over 40 hours a week.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Tech Data full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Friendly Environment, Flexible Working Hours

    Cons

Terrible Leadership from Directors both Sales and Operations (Cloud Division); Lack of Communication, No Clear direction with mixed messaging coming from Executive level. Highly political. Directors within the Cloud division continuous disputes which ends in a "stand still" with no clear direction for employees to follow resulting in nothing getting accomplished. Very Dysfunctional group primarily within the Cloud division (Operations, Services & Sales). Low morale

I worked at Tech Data full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

You'll be spoiled with lots of perks and conveniences, decent work-life balance, depending on department and manager. Some work from home opportunities if you are lucky. Very casual dress code and employees are allowed to express themselves with fun hair colors and tattoos, etc. A word of caution: don't get too comfortable because other big companies are not that lenient and when you get terminated, or try to leave, it may be hard to leave that sense of individuality behind for a more conservative environment. Think before you get comfortable at Tech Data and invest in more visible ink. I love tattoos for the record. On-site cafeteria in home office, gym for nominal fee. Unlimited PTO for salaried employees. Treated like royalty if in Sales or Product Marketing (to make up for very very low pay and high expectations). Very good benefits if you are willing and able to pay for them.

    Cons

Tries to keep up with "fun", progressive IT firms, even though it is just a distribution company with far less money to spend on employees and extras. If you are not in Sales, you are lucky if your department is "invited" to fun Sales events. Otherwise, you are able to just watch them have fun without you in the same building, or you hear about it through the grapevine. Not a lot of holidays off. Strict point system for hourly employee calls outs. No flexibility for emergencies for them. Pay is not competitive. No profit sharing. Annual raises are mediocre and do not keep up with rise in cost of living. Technology for employees is lackluster. Old, slow laptops, if you don't still have a huge desktop computer. Lots of layoffs that happen throughout the year. They are so widespread geographically it's hard to notice them, but no one is safe, with typically one big one right before Thanksgiving or Christmas. They don't really try to find those people other jobs in the company before cutting them, as they say. No one is valued or cared for, it's all about money as any any big corporation. Employees tend to hang onto knowledge out of fear and self preservation. Big changes coming with Apollo buyout. Tech Data always prided themselves on integrity, but Apollo and it's leader have some questionable blemishes that can be found through a simple Google search. Jobs moving outside of US under the guise of being "global". Stay for no more than a few years, any longer and you will become stagnant and the environment, toxic. Encouraged to keep up certifications and education, but there is no reward for it and you are fortunate if they pay for it.
