I have been working at Tect full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Overtime is engrained in the shop culture.

    Cons

Mandatory 6 10 hour shifts, sometimes mandatory 7 10 hour shifts. They will work you till you have to use your pto time for a day off. 20% turn over rate, no employee appreciation at all!

    Advice to Management

Stop separating yourselves from hourly employees. Show appreciation for all the overtime we put in. It's a sweat shop now.

I worked at Tect full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

If you are hourly you kill it in overtime.
    That's about all

    Cons

It's true, they understaff heavily except on one program, so never expect a holiday off especially at the end of the month.

Expect to work 6 days a week regularly, end of month you work the full weekend to make up for poor planning.

Most management is under experienced leading to mass confusion and egos from those trying to "prove" themselves to the master who GM

GM is deffinitly a bully. If people accidentally mess up time sheets his answer is to make them come in and fix it on Sunday without pay. Screams and yells and belittles people calling them idiots with multiple curse words. Micromanages everyone and everything. Often gives conflicting direction and yells at you when you don't do one of them. Hires and promotes under experienced employees to save money and seems to enjoy the chaos it causes. If challenged will become verbally abusive.

You will be asked to blur the line of personal ethics on occasion.

    Advice to Management

Hire people that have done it before not people you want to train to do it. Don't hide truths to customers, they know the truth. Do something to control the language and negative attempt at leadership in the corner office.

    Pros

Great pay and benefits. Awesome talented employees working with state of the art machinery. Company has a huge investment in capital equipment, working with the latest and greatest technology.

    Cons

Can't think of many, outside of they are a big company that has a small company mentality when it comes to running the operation lean. There focus on continuous improvement tends to initiate several projects and project teams which equals more work. Not an issue if we hire the right people.

    Pros

TECT provides opportunities for their employees to grow The culture is good with a lot of tenured employees and a lot of knowledge. Good company with a strong future projected growth.

    Cons

I cannot think of any. It is a very fast paced environment which sure makes the time pass quickly.

    Advice to Management

Provide more internal growth opportunities than we already do and be transparent about it so people know they are high potential employees.

    Pros

Friendly and frank, but set in their ways.

    Cons

TECT, from an Mfg Estimating & a Data Analytic s perspective, TECT is an archaic company. They have no financial, by-part history, they do not collect operation performance metrics, IE Time Standards, utilize previous NC Models and/or Part definition, in a data driven manner, nor did they seem interested or realize the value in capturing those data sets. There is no effort to correlate Engineering, Operational and Financial Data, that is generated in their day to day course of business, with each other.

Their BOE consists solely on Manufacturing Engineer's Subject Matter Expert judgement, against a WBS of their creation, that the shop floor is scheduled too. Their stance is that their SOW is forever changing, and the idea of deriving correlations driven by material type, % of Raw Mtrl removal against the Volume of the End Item Definition, and the formulation and application of a Realization Factor, was completely foreign to them, and was not seen as value added in their current business environment. In the modern Data Analyst skill sets that Mfg Estimating is quickly evolving into, frankly their Estimating methodology is inept.
