I have been working at The Keystone Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - I've learned more here in four years than I have relative to any other portion of my career
    - The experience relative to age is unmatched
    - You become a part of the management team at clients as a result of the impactful projects and the importance relative to the company's future
    - The Directors (Partners) of the firm are smart, experienced, and willing to get in to the details to improve the bottom-line of clients. They are also people you can relate with over dinner or a drink, and who care about your personal development and happiness.

    Cons

    - Travel can be monotonous, but definitely more flexible than other consulting firms
    - Projects tend to be in "industrial" areas that don't always offer the most diverse food and hotel options
    - The hours on some projects can be hard, but this tends to ebb and flow throughout the year due to the diversity of project work

    Advice to Management

    - Continue to be a place where employees can grow their skills faster than anywhere else

I have been working at The Keystone Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    -Significant impact on middle-market businesses
-Turnaround / Restructuring service line focuses on improving businesses rather than simply taking them through a legal process
-Variety of client engagements and service line enables continued learning and growth
-Small-firm means that each person is expected to make a significant contribution and be involved in important decisions
-Merit-based promotion structure, ability to make decisions on a case-by-case basis rather than through the rigid structure of a larger firm
-Very intelligent people who truly care about each other and their clients

    Cons

-Travel lifestyle typical of consulting, although arguably more flexibility than larger firms
-While involvement in all aspects of the firm is a unique benefit for employees, sometimes administrative / non-client activities consume more time than one would like

    Advice to Management

Continue to focus on utilizing the firm's unique culture and capabilities to provide an unmatched work place amongst consulting firms - be creative about ways to balance the rigors of travel with leading a "normal" life.

I have been working at The Keystone Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    • The generalist staffing model gives you experience across all service lines and industries, giving you a broad set of skills
    • Small team sizes (2-5 ppl) allows for a lot of responsibility for all team members resulting in extremely fast professional development. Even the most junior employees will work directly with partners at the firm and c-level executives at the client
    • Everyone at Keystone is very smart and talented. You’ll learn a ton from working here.

    Cons

    • Because of the nature of the work, especially turnaround, there will be times you will need to forfeit social time
    • There are times where there is a lot of pressure to perform well, which is a result of how much responsibility you are given

I have been working at The Keystone Group full-time

    Pros

    - High levels of autonomy and responsibility early in career
    - Middle market focus provides better visibility to the impact of recommendations on clients' financial and operational performance
    - Opportunities to interact directly with business unit general managers, C-Suite executives, Boards of Directors, bankers, and private equity sponsors
    - Collaborative culture with supportive and caring people
    - Emphasis on having fun outside of the office
    - Ability to become an equity holder earlier than at other firms

    Cons

    - Travel can be tough and client locations are not always easily accessible
    - Projects can be stressful with high demands
    - Days leading up to important meetings and presentations can be long

    Pros

    - Consulting teams are small (3-5 people), therefore everyone plays a very important role
    - They get new / young employees in front of clients more than other consulting firms
    - Projects are dealing with very big issues (company might go out of business, large acquisition, strategy, etc.)
    - Kind, sincere, caring employees. Family-type feel
    - My friends at the big strategy consulting firms were jealous of my experiences at Keystone. I played a bigger role and learned more.

    Cons

    - Consulting is a difficult lifestyle
    - Keystone is not a great fit for a person that wants a big corporation feel / lots of structure / etc.
    - Not a lot of international travel (but there is some)

I have been working at The Keystone Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A level of project impact unusual within the consulting industry, outstanding people who are second to none, extremely inclusive culture, very interesting project work

The biggest differential is the level of responsibility given even at the junior level. An analyst on his/her 1st project may be travelling solo to client site to run day to day meetings.

    Cons

Hours, Works can be stressful as average engagements are turnarounds and time is short

    Advice to Management

Continue to incorporate the merit-based promotion system

    Pros

Exposure to seemingly endless variety of industries and business issues
Work closely with everyone from CEO of company to the guy on the manufacturing floor
Very intelligent colleagues who always put the client first
    Challenging, fun atmosphere

    Cons

Smaller companies and/or the "generalist" approach (vs. specialized) aren't for everyone
Work/life balance is tough in consulting

We are sorry to hear about your experience but you may have the wrong company. The Keystone Group does not have a sales presence in the Philadelphia area.
