I worked at Trimac full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

If you are willing to work 60+ hours a week for no extra pay and can politic with the good ol boys club there can be advancement in 3-5 years.

    Cons

Management holds you back from advancement but will put the world on your shoulders without promotion or appreciation. Leadership is not decisive, dynamic, or vocal(lots of unspoken guidelines). Training is non existant at the US Central Operations level. Management fails at communication and information that should be common knowledge is kept secretive. Lots of longevity without advancement as people just dont want the headache of job searching.

    Advice to Management

Hire real leadership that will challenge the status quo and cultivate their subordinates. Operations managers that are their because of their age and connections to the industry are not helping morale in U.S . Central Operations. Leadership that doesn't take the time to help rectify affairs at the branch level because of friendships, mousiness, and vacillation to put ripples in the water is not effective. Re-evaluate the team and put those willing to advance through training to do so. The old practice of keeping secrets from subordinates to keep your job secure is lame and pusillaminous.

    Pros

If your lazy, can't drive, and like unfair management practices. This is your place.

    Cons

Unfair, uncaring to the point of calling your phone in the middle of your father's funeral to try to force you to take a load ( thanks Tom orlitch) . Paychecks are seldom correct sometimes more than 500 Dollars off.

    Advice to Management

    Fire yourself.

    Pros

Local, home every night, off a lot of weekends. Easy to get time off and to get home for appointments. 9 paid holidays and a floating holiday. Its a great company to work for and they are really helpful. Nice and new equipment and good maintenance crew to keep it all up. Winter time pay guarantee.

    Cons

Pay is load based and the load is based on weather, Some weeks you might only bring home $200 but they forget to tell you that. Insurance is high. Took away safety bonus and vacation and barely raised the pay to "make up for it" Checks vary too much to know if you'll be able to take a vacation or be able to pay your light bill next month. Needs a year round guarantee and an amount like other branches in SC..

    Advice to Management

Be honest with drivers and don't beat around the bush. Give the best you got and if you say you will work on something, do it. Treat all branches fairly and give the same benefits to all the ones who do the same work. (Year round weekly guarantees, sign-on bonus' etc)

I have been working at Trimac full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

This is easy job, Low stress, hook and go and mobile Dispatch. You have to have a high level of detail. If you believe in doing things safely and correctly you will love this job. Over time starts after 40 hours. Great benefits and 401k match.

    Cons

Sometimes the work weeks get long . The average is about 55 - 60 hours per week.

    Advice to Management

I believe the management team is doing a very good job. Safety is a major priority. They are headed in the right direction.

I have been working at Trimac full-time

    Pros

Take you to lunch for orientation.

    Cons

Pay, always issues with your check and you will have to work, then fight for every penny, miles, training, benefits and left hand never knows what the right hand is doing.

    Advice to Management

I dont understand how a company in business for so long has such unprofessional practices. I met some really cool people there but unfortunately for me i didnt apply there to make friends. I wanted the work and i know management had their hands tied on some issues however misleading drivers to deesculate situations quickly only reesculate things later and that ruins trust. Be honest especially when its uncomfortable and that will establish trust and loyalty. Good luck!
