Pros

Free breakfast and lunch is a pretty great perk, it definitely takes away the drama of making lunch every day. It's also awesome having coffee available whenever you want it. It's a nice office space, and everyone is pretty friendly in the team itself.

Cons

I'm writing this even though I still work here, because we just had some new people start, and there'll probably be more I guess, and I really want people to know what it's actually like here before they accept a job. The perks of free food and stuff are great, but the salary is below what other places would be paying, so you have to take that into account. I always thought companies provided perks like that on top of a normal salary - that's what made them so cool - but here you basically get them instead of a normal salary, which is okay I guess, but it's good to keep it in mind. The teams are great, I really like the people I work with and everyone helps each other out on tricky problems - BUT, that's only in the teams themselves. Once you start going up the chain, there's a heap of drama. The owners and the COO lord over everyone and if you aren't there friends, you basically have no chance of getting any opportunity for growth or leadership. I saw someone else write that on here, and the response was 'we are friends with people who do the right thing' or something, but that's really not true. If you aren't there friend (or weren't there friend before you started) then you will probably just stay in the same role forever until you leave. You don't see the management team unless there's something wrong or except on a Friday afternoon when they appear for 5 minutes and then go play games with there friends. If you sit on the wrong side of the office, you could easily go weeks without seeing them. They don't make any effort to get to know new staff, and half the time I don't think they know our names. They don't like to be questioned about their decisions, and they don't like anyone else having an idea about something. If you do, they ignore it, or they get rid of you. They actually said to someone "IT'S MY PLAYGROUND, MY RULES" because the person was worried about how they were responding to the coronavirus stuff. They really don't like females in the workplace. I saw another review that mentioned it, and the response was "we have two that have been here however many years" - what they didn't say was how many females:males there were. I think there are maybe 55-60 people working here but less than 5 females in total. One left recently, so it might even be less. None of them are in leadership or management positions either. I don't think that will ever happen. Everything is run based on fear. Your monitored on camera 24/7 in the office - from how many bathroom breaks you take, whether you stop to talk to someone on the way to or from the bathroom, whether you look at your mobile phone, scratch your head, or whatever. I've never worked anywhere like that. I don't think it's normal in an office!!!! You also get penalised for minor things, even if it's out of your control - if you're late to work because there was a crash on the freeway or something, you get penalised publicly in front of the team. It's supposed to be motivating but it's the opposite. I probably will leave soon, so I wanted to post this, because I don't want the next person to think it's a great place and then get stressed out and hate it either.

Pros

Keep in kind that these only apply to the Victoria office at my time of employment: Breakfast and lunch provided, prepared by on-site kitchen crew (who are absolutely lovely by the way), as well as drinks and coffee throughout your shift. Full access to an on-site gym with a personal trainer visiting 1-2 times a week. A great way to get started in the tech field. You will learn a lot very quickly and, if your head is geared the right way, you'll get pretty good at it in the first few months. But you should not be staying in the job for longer than 6 months.

Cons

The Technical Support role is the bottom of the totem pole in the company and unfortunately, in 99% of cases, that's where you'll stay. If you're getting this job to kickstart your career in IT, that's fine, but don't consider working for this company as the career. The sad fact of the matter is that even the leadership team remarked on several occasions during my employment that they don't expect anyone to stay in this position for longer than 1.5-2 years, and their attitude to the role reflects that belief. The pay is, after some research, well below industry standard. If this is your first job out of school it might be fine but it's not sustainable in the current economy. Several times throughout my employment, we were asked what the worst part of the job was and every time the answer was resoundingly "the pay". Their explanation for the pay grade when I was interviewing for the job was the access to the list of perks listed above, but everyone in the company has access to those perks, with quite a few of them being paid much better than the tech support team. Ontop of this, the culture is an 'acquired taste' to say the least. There have been multiple occasions where I had to call out people, both in the office and in the internal chat system regarding their choice of words or attitudes towards other members of staff or even the customers we were servicing. The workplace does suffer from a "we're just joking around so that makes it okay" mentality, which will unfortunately make the position unappealing to those that don't appreciate the "boys locker room talk" you will hear throughout the day. Also, the workload on the team is getting absolutely ridiculous. When the pay is compared to the expectations, and once you understand the work that goes into those expectations, you'll understand that you're just not being compensated for your time properly. Ultimately, my recommendation would be to stay in this job for 6 months, learn as much as you can, then immediately start looking for a better opportunity elsewhere.

Rubbish.

Pros

Good perks, pity they come at the cost of lower net pay. Not much else to say.

Cons

Suffers from "in-group" preferential treatment. Awful locker-room boys-club atmosphere, and the owners drink their own kool-aid and think it tastes great. Doesn't taste so great to anyone else. There was also an internal memo passed around and current staff were all but forced to write positive reviews in a batch after a bad review to smother it as much as possible. Looking back you can see a sudden dump of new reviews that are all suspiciously similar. 23 Jan 2018, 23 Jan 2018, 23 Jan 2018. You spend your time here afraid. Don't work here.
