    Pros

Great paternalistic company wrestling with the pressures of online competition and decline of physical book and music sales.

    Cons

Stores are a mess these days and everything is about cost cutting, so only join them if you are not in it for the money.

    Advice to Management

Keep going to change business and develop travel retail brands.

I have been working at WHSmith part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Other members of staff are generally friendly, happy and easy to get along with. The job is quite easy to do and doesn't require much effort compared to other job types.

    Cons

The pressure from head office to push TPCs and bouncebacks onto customers at the till is ridiculous. The customers don't like it and neither do we.
The pay is also terrible, it is literally the minimum for each age group (18-21 £5.90).

    Advice to Management

Pay your staff better and you may see some more enthusiasm and commitment towards their roles. Also, upgrade the technology we use in store and add some life back into the displays and planogram designs
