I worked at Wodify full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Free beer/wine/snacks. Casual work attire that could sometimes be mistaken for pajamas. Decent colleagues at the entry/associate level

    Cons

If you're not best buds with the CEO, you are expendable regardless the amount of value you may bring to the organization. This company lacks any true direction and will turn its back on the hardest-working employees at the drop of a pin (this happened a couple times while I was there). Some employees act like they operate in the Wild West, making up their own rules and circumventing their own management if they don't get their way. Tough luck if you're not a "favorite" of the C-Level team, as they'll just dismiss you as difficult to deal with even if you bring up good ideas and valid concerns. The business never learns from their mistakes, especially around product development and product releases. On a handful of occasions, product/engineering would make a mistake during a roll-out and management would expect support and sales staff to work over the weekend to fix it. I'm all about chipping in, but this is something that would happen multiple times for the SAME reason. They try to paint a picture of how scrappy and entrepreneurial they are. It's all lip service and a "cooler" way to say they don't have any clue what they're doing and could be forced to fire half the staff in a week's notice. The workplace culture is TOXIC even though the org claims they've done so much work to improve it. They may have tried but certainly nothing stuck. There are a couple people there that aren't going anywhere anytime soon that will practically ensure Wodify will remain a quick cup of coffee along the journey of a talented individual's career path.

I worked at Wodify full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great salary, cool office, great benefits. People who don't report to the CEO are very pleasant, talented people to work with.

    Cons

The CEO will make your life at wodify a living hell. He likes to fire people on a whim, verbally goes off on people without warning, and worst of all he has unclear and changing expectations of everything from project goals to when people return from vacations. I have seen people fired for not returning mid-vacation for something that was far from an emergency, just to give you an example. If you don't trust my single review, I get it - read the previous reviews while ignoring the short, glowing reviews of the company with very little specifics all written with a day of each other. The CEO has demanded these fake reviews periodically from employees to artificially boost their numbers ... do your due diligence before joining this company and read through some of them.

    Pros

The company has really turned a corner over the last year. Management is very open to new thinking and employee and customer feedback. We're constantly trying to improve and are constantly reinvesting in hiring and making the company more scalable.

    Cons

There is still some figuring things out as we go and some of the changes and hiring are taking some time.

    I worked at Wodify full-time

    Pros

Amazing team, smart individuals, cool office environment

    Cons

The Founder/CEO. There is no real HR and no executive team or board to keep him in check. If he will have anything to do with your role, don't take it. There isn't a culture issue, there's a leadership issue. It's a shame because everyone who works there is smart and amazingly talented, but the CEO thinks he needs to break people down in order for them to be good employees. He has a short fuse and no interest in rectifying his wrong doings. The product also needs a ton of work - which he says he see and everyone knows - but it's been 5 years and they have a decent valuation so it doesn't seem as bad as it is. I will say, the product is decent as far as what's available in the industry goes, but it's obvious users are using it begrudgingly a lot of the time.

    I worked at Wodify full-time

    Pros

Great people - you can learn a lot from all of them Beautiful office Great tools to work with

    Cons

This is a company that lacks direction, values, and any true identity. I was originally going to say that the communication within the company needs improvement because no one ever seems to know what's going on, but I've since realized that this is only a product of the fact that there is no vision. If you're looking to be hired at Wodify, do yourself a favor and ask the people you interact with about the company mission and values. I'll save you the time: no one has a clue. Despite the fact that none of the managers have managed before, there has never been any initiative to help them, although thousands of dollars are invested in other things - like making sure managers are taken to a multi-day "negotiation workshop." The CEO breeds a culture of agreement - not innovation, growth, or independent thinking. This is the type of company that thinks offering a barber and beer gives them a right to treat people like pawns and talk bad about them along the way. With that in mind, you'll be hired and told that Wodify "only hires smart people", but then months later you will likely witness upper level management or the CEO joke about how stupid the entry level employees are. The company will try to make you think their product is killing it - but it's really not. A huge investment was made in several engineering teams in Lisbon, yet two years later there hasn't been a dramatic increase in new sales, nor improved customer retention. “Coaching” is a common term at Wodify. It really means being belittled, bullied, or admonished by the CEO. You’ll be “coached” enough that you’ll eventually get used to this treatment and start to see it as a normal, healthy way of giving/receiving feedback. You’ll even start to think that this is how other organizations deliver feedback. You are wrong. This is not healthy, normal, or good for anyone.

Thank you so much for your feedback. We’re always looking to learn from others experiences and improve. We are lucky to have such a beautiful office and smart and talented employees. Our company vision is to “Explore new fitness markets, experiment with technology, form strategic partnerships and continue doing remarkable things”. While this vision may seem lofty, it is the foundation for all of our business and product decisions. Yes, we move quickly at Wodify and priorities do shift, but it is always in an effort to respond to market trends, customer needs, and to support our focus on providing best in class fitness software. As a young company with employees who have helped build this company from the ground up, we believe in giving employees the opportunity to take on new responsibilities including management. This year, we are focused on investing in our management team, giving them training, and bringing on new management to help take our team to the next level. Wodify is a bootstrapped company that has never had to take on funding and our revenue has grown year of year. We have also launched several new products in the past 6 months that will only add to this upward trend in growth. While this company may not be a fit for everybody, the future looks bright for Wodify and its team.

I have been working at Wodify full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

At Wodify you get to be a part of a global team who is passionate, driven, and not afraid to work hard. You never have to worry about your colleagues carrying their weight. Wodify is leading the CrossFit market for gym management software and the company is building several exciting new products launching in the next couple months so I feel confident the company will continue to innovate and expand in years to come. Things never get old here and I have plenty of opportunities to grow, learn new skills, and make an impact. The office doesn't hurt either its comfortable and has great perks like an onsite gym, wine dispenser, cold brew coffee, standing desks, and an office dog named Willow!

    Cons

The company does move quickly so sometimes you need to be flexible to keep up with the fast-paced environment and occasionally put in extra hours to see a project through.

    Pros

    - The people are great and the pay is decent. Note: The company solicits reviews from employees so do not believe everything you read on here. The culture also dramatically varies across office locations, so pay close attention to the location that you are looking at.

    Cons

    - Work life balance is horrible, employees frequently work long hours and are expected to drop important plans last minute. - Management does not respect employees - Employees, especially women, are frequently spoken to in a way that is not appropriate in any environment, especially at work. Lewd, demeaning, and derogatory comments are frequent and unwelcome and unfortunately occur with no assistance from HR. - Management does not coach employees or help them develop their skills, several employees have been fired but received little to no coaching to even attempt to help them be more successful in their role. - It's been said before but employees are constantly walking on eggshells. Job security is not a reality at Wodify. - Growth opportunities are scarce or non-existent. - Mistakes are tracked and feedback is scarce - The company says they encourage learning from failures but employees that fail even once are heavily criticized and frequently leave the company shortly after.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review, we really appreciate the candid feedback. We want to continue progressing and growing as a company and we are grateful to hear about your experience. We’re really sorry to hear you didn’t have a great experience at Wodify. Our goal is to be very transparent from the hiring process, it seems like there were some misaligned expectations, and we’ll certainly take this into consideration for the benefit of our employees. We are really proud of the team that we have and we do tend to pay above market rates. We have two awesome offices, one in Portugal and one in the US, naturally, there can be some cultural differences between offices in two different countries. We make every effort possible to align our offices with a common mission and values. In regards to soliciting reviews, Glassdoor encourages employers to request reviews from their employees. It is common practice, see for yourself on Glassdoor's blog! As we transition from a small startup to a mid-sized company, there are times when hard work and putting in extra time comes with the job. Wodify values hard, smart work and great performance. We believe it’s really important for the success of the organization! I’m really sorry to hear you didn’t feel respected. We do not ever want you to feel unsafe or unwelcomed at Wodify. We take this type of complaint seriously and we would hope you do reach out to alert our team about any instances of inappropriate behavior. Earlier this year we implemented bi-weekly check-ins between managers and employees to encourage feedback and coaching. If you require an inordinate amount of coaching and feedback, this type of environment may not be for you. Employees who perform well have had and can have growth opportunities within the organization, as we have many examples of this in the company. We are a smaller sized company so there isn’t a big corporate ladder to climb, which again, we are transparent about in the hiring process. Our hope is to continue to improve our internal structure so that there is a clear career path for everyone, we hear you loud and clear and we realize employee growth is key to our continued success. Nevertheless, we are always happy to listen to any suggestions or feedback provided by employees. We use a tool for employees to provide anonymous feedback, so employees feel comfortable expressing any concerns they have. We want to welcome you to open a discussion with us in regards to your feedback, please feel free to reach out to us.

I have been working at Wodify for less than a year

    Pros

While the pros may be few and far between, there are certainly some here that can be seen at face value. -Casual work attire -Good pay and insurance benefits -Snacks, beer, and wine in the office -Some of the best and brighest peers to ever have been assembled -Comfortable office setting -Good exposure to different skill sets and tools. You probably won't be taught them, but good to keep in your back pocket to develop later in your free time.

    Cons

-As other reviews have stated in the past, you can't help but feel the pressure of "walking on eggshell". It's not just from the management, but the product itself. Aside from not knowing 'who' will shut you down this week, you'll worry just as much about what will go wrong with a deployment to create a whole new set of issues to resonate through and interrupt your routine. -While they say they do, management never seems to learn from their past mistakes. Often repeating the same tropes and mishaps while constantly reassuring that, "we'll never make that mistake again." -Work/life balance is also a prevalent theme. Good luck trying to find a daily regiment; you''ll be married to this job and the office. Even when you get home, you'll still bring your work home with you. Completely understand overtime on occasion, but your time simply isn't valued as an employee. -Plans hardly stay steady - expect to usually completely change direction with any project or task you're working on. Key phrases Wodify will use like "staying agile" really seems implied to mean something else... In addition: -No training with a "trial by fire"/"thrown to the wolves" mentality. -No room for growth or advancement. -No HR department. -Management isn't open to criticism. -Lack of transparency between among departments and management.

We really appreciate you taking the time to review our company! Our apologies for the delayed response. Thanks for the list of pros! We are very proud of the talented people that make up our team, glad to hear you’ve enjoyed working with your colleagues, among some of the other perks that come along with being an employee at Wodify. Thanks for pointing out some of your pain points. We’ll certainly take your feedback into consideration. In regards to feeling pressure, our team definitely works at a fast pace in an effort to keep our customers running great businesses. With that in mind, we’ve grown our team tremendously over the past few years (specifically this year) to stay in stride. We’ve made several changes in management over the past few months, including hiring an HR Manager. We’re always looking for ways to improve work/life balance and we’ve definitely made some changes over time, such as implementing a flexible vacation policy. Our team is full of hardworking and competitive employees who tend to go the extra mile for the sake of success (which we love). As far as growth goes, we prefer promoting from within, there is plenty of evidence of that at Wodify. As we grow I foresee us implementing new approaches in the future, like a more tiered structure within departments that can provide more of a direct career path for those who wish to have one. Again, thank you for taking the time to submit this review, we appreciate the feedback you’ve given and will definitely use it in an effort to continue improving!

I worked at Wodify full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I am genuinely grateful for the connections I made and value the 4 months of professional experience I gained working at Wodify. Here are some of the pros from my experience: • Learn what it takes to sprint as a BA in a fast-paced Scrum SaaS startup on the rise • Work with fun talented people in beautiful offices with plenty of creature comforts • Gain global experience working with Design, Development, and QA teams in the Lisbon office • Connect with clients working with Customer Success, Sales, and Marketing in the NJ office • Work with the best technology and SaaS, ability to challenge yourself to learn new tech skills • Competitive pay that is made even sweeter with the company’s employee equity plan • Strong sense of ownership is fostered; everyone can influence the product roadmap • Opportunity to stay involved locally with quarterly community service “Givve” events

    Cons

My aspirational leadership style and values were at odds with Wodify’s and there were too many misalignments. Ultimately it just wasn’t the right fit. Here are some of my cons: • The company’s inspirational brand theme is completely at odds with its punitive culture • Efforts to learn about other parts of the company are perceived to be a direct insubordination • Fear driven environment where mistakes are tracked and feedback is delivered ineffectively • Overworked employees with a high turn-over, 6+ people left or get fired during my tenure • An unlimited vacation policy where most people are too swamped or afraid to ask for time off

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your experience working at Wodify. We appreciate you listing your pros and cons and value your opinion and feedback as we continue to grow and improve as a company. Thank you for a great list of pros, glad to hear that you gained new experiences during your time here and were able to learn more about the BA roll at a Saas start-up. We hope this will add to your resume going forward. In response to your cons, we are sorry to hear that your leadership style was in misalignment with ours and ultimately not a good fit. We do want to encourage employees to learn about other roles in the company however due to the nature of our business and how quickly we are turning out features this is not always feasible nor a good investment of time. We do hope that one day we can get to a place where this will become an easier option for people. When new employees start with the company we want their main goal to be learning the product and their role inside out, eventually as time allows learning other roles in the company will become an option and can be very beneficial. In regards to overworked employees and vacation time, we are now having each employee track all time off so that they can see for themselves if they are indeed taking advantage of our unlimited vacation policy or not. We want people to take time to disconnect and rest but we have realized that our team is made up of A+ players and it tends to be in their nature to work extra hard and not always take the time for themselves that they need. We will take this feedback and do a better job at encouraging people to take the time they need. We wish you the best going forward and will take all of your feedback seriously as we grow our company and continually improve our processes and management style.
