I have been working at Zix full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some extremely friendly and bright people work here. There is always lots going on in terms of engineering and development opportunities.

    Cons

No regard or acknowledgment given to lower level employees whatsoever. There is a focus on sales and little else. I agree with another review which states that if you're neither an engineer nor a white male, you likely will not succeed here. There is definite favoritism, and it's not based on merit.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate your employees more. Consider listening to the opinions and ideas of non-"favorite" employees and lower level employees. Humble yourselves. You are projecting an aura of greed and cluelessness.

    I worked at Zix full-time

    Pros

    Friendly atmosphere, flexible hours.

    Cons

Can be stressful when deadlines will be missed. Benefits not quite up to snuff with other companies but not bad.

    Advice to Management

Consider the wants with the work load involved. Consider the needs of the existing customers. They are more important than future customers that new product might bring in.

I have been working at Zix full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Mnagement was good and they gave you free snacks. Training on th e product could have been better. It is a ground floor job in the hot security field .

    Cons

More formal training on the product needed.. Need to move to a cloud hosted solution as they are often just windows admins with little experience with linux.

    Advice to Management

Growing field but Zix may be an acquistion target. Proofpoint has similar products

I worked at Zix full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Can earn a good salary. Knowledgeable team that works internally well together. The software works and the customers are happy with the solution

    Cons

Mid management focuses primarily on micromanaging. There is a major disconnect between management and employees. Very high turnover on a small team due to lack of trust in management

    Advice to Management

Seriously consider changing something soon before you lose all of your top performers. Value the teams input and stop working off of the favorite system. Promotions should be earned not gifted.

    Pros

Most people work 40 hour week, occasional overtime here and there. Fairly good communication channels are in place. Decent management who know what they're doing.

    Cons

Lots of pressure in certain roles, very little in others. Little room for advancement. Lots of background knowledge is tied up in senior employees and is necessary to be successful.

    Advice to Management

Focus on structuring teams in a way that they can succeed, rather than fixating on agile development.
