I worked at Zoho full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Autonomy - minimal guidelines, allowing you to work how you want and not be micromanaged so long as you get the job done. [changing] Food - daily catered lunches, tons of drinks and snacks. Running on all of own products - helps you feel confident in what you're selling/a part of. Community/Culture - fairly close-knit team (even in India), almost everyone is approachable and there as a resource. Austin office does at least quarterly outings and activities. Visitors from/trips to India. Supplies - given a computer, phone, and just about whatever other tools you feel will make you successful. Benefits - awesome insurance and unlimited time off in moderation (kind of a con around holidays since everyone wants it). Products - still have plenty of things to iron out but have come a long, long way and at the end of the day, Zoho truly is a unique offering. Leadership - brilliant CEO (which is crucial in a private company), executives, and even lower management. They pretty much all want you to succeed and have best intentions. Growth - with so many applications and with such rapid growth, the future is bright for the company and new roles/ideas are constantly being thrown around. The down side is that most either haven't yet come into fruition or aren't available to those not in a more senior position.

    Cons

Lack of structure - frequent sales process changes (major and minor), disjointed communication (changes come from all different directions/departments and can often contradict each other), which leads to lack of uniformity (not everyone is held to the same standards). Lack of target market - while the products are quite customizable and have different editions, the approach is still one size fits all (unless of course there's absolutely no way to MAKE it work). Training - changes with pretty much every new group of hires and is done on the fly. Heavily product focused (just like the company). Culture/Goal shift - company is at a point of more rapid growth/change internally and externally across all departments and so a lot of management, process, and effort changes. Basically a huge shift to a largely "New Zoho". Something that's inevitable but in my opinion, could be executed/handled with a bit more grace. Pro if you like it, con if you don't.

    Advice to Management

More metrics and data could (and should) be tracked/utilized more efficiently, effectively, and consistently. With that, longer term solutions, trends, and processes (rather than band-aids) can be put in place internally helping to more accurately gauge success and what people are doing. PLEASE get more SALES training for the SALES team. Especially when Zoho is so unique and is hiring people with little (or no) sales experience. There's a reason why the people with a lot of prior sales experience crush it...and those without it do not. Obviously with rapid growth, there comes a lot of changes and resources may be strapped thin. That being said, don't get lost in the ambitious goals and your superstar performers at the expense of the rest of your team.

I have been working at Zoho full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The leadership style of the executive team is all about trust and credibility and creating an environment where everyone feels valued. Leaders do not hesitate to jump in and help if anyone encounters roadblocks. The culture genuinely values work/life balance and treating employees as adults and valued contributors. The company is privately-held and executive leadership has adopted a long-term vision. Leaders are not obsessively-focused on monthly or quarterly outcomes. This attitude from the top positively impacts how employees, clients and partners are treated. There is tremendous upward mobility and advancement opportunity.

    Pros

Culture, growth, travel opportunities. Great product. (CRM) incredible people in India. A family environment. Tough company to leave due to the great relationships. Attainable quotas.

    Cons

Executive management is not extremely supportive. US based employees can get lost. Pay and commission structure is very low for the market avg. Sales process and KPI’s change to frequently.

    Advice to Management

You have an incredible product that needs reps out in the field driving large enterprise sales. Keep building a US based presence as it will greatly help the baseline of Zoho’s reputation stateside
