DESPICABLE Employee Treatment

Pros

There are no pros to working there.

Cons

A new CEO was brought in in January, and since then employees have been treated disgustingly. People laid off with no cause or notice, not given any severance, and even asked to repay relocation packages to the tune of $30,000. After a complete failure of financial management, the Chief Financial Officer got PROMOTED, and then held a meeting where he said it was the employees’ fault the company failed because we were all slackers. They don’t give a single shred about any of their employees, only their own pockets. The CEO has yet to show his face except for his one announcement in January where he announced the layoffs. Join this company if you like toxic environments and gaslighting.

A Confederacy of Dunces

Pros

- Smart, talented, friendly colleagues - Benefits - Promising product

Cons

- Ineffective, clueless upper management and board of directors. It has been obvious to the people in the trenches for several years that the company has been overextending itself and spending too much money. - No raises and bonuses for 2021 and none for the foreseeable future. - The company is losing critical employees at a head-spinning rate. Upper management seems unconcerned and has not taken action to prevent this. - It is unfathomable that the former CFO was promoted to COO and remains part of the leadership team given the company's financial situation. - A joke of a retention plan. Only slightly less insulting than receiving a gift card from IHOP.

Very poor company management and massive layoffs

Pros

Company initially boasted a very open, accepting work culture that valued its employees. Employee resource groups existed across various areas (which is an improvement over an utter absence of ERGs in some places), benefits were very good, and the employees that I worked with were great, hard working people (for the most part).

Cons

Company mismanagement of programs, employee hiring, and funds led to catastrophically unsustainable financial situation during the latest biotech stock downturn. The original executive leadership essentially could not effectively strategize the company's research & development efforts in an effective manner. Combined with unsustainable hiring without any checks resulted in a massive restructuring that was triggered by overhaul of the CEO and some other executive members. The worst part is that the employees paid for the mistakes of executive leadership made over the past decade, and were punished for their hard work by mass layoffs, bonuses cancelled, pay raises/promotions cancelled, etc.
